His "gf" seems like an enabler.

I've always thought management forced him into rehab in 01 and that's why he didn't really take it that seriously. I see BSB ending soon. Howie has a baby on the way, AJ is nuts, Brian has a family and Nick is just Nick. |

Well, this is their last CD to fulfill their contract with Jive. That's my understanding. I don't know if the record company will extend their
contract. Nick said that he has no plans to release his solo CD, that he is concentrating on BSB, and although AJ said he will release a solo CD this year, I
don't think he will ever do it. I don't think he has the balls, so to speak, to stand alone. It's sad, because of all of them, he has the voice and
the talent.
I find it curious that there has been no statement from AJ or their team about this. On the FC all threads related to AJ's relapse have been deleted too. |

Well, they have no choice but to address it at some point. They're supposed to tour soon, right? So, they have to say or do something. There's no way
they can lie about this or just ignore it. I'm interested to see what happens.

BeaUtiFuLiMperFektiOn wrote: They may just ignore it, actually. In fact, I strongly suspect that the only reason they revealed that AJ was going to rehab in 2001 was that:
· He threatened to quit the group (putting their livelihoods in jeopardy and threatening their contract as a group with Jive) · There would have been a huge financial cost as the tour was sponsored, and they may have been sued by their sponsor and their merchandisers if the tour was cancelled (there would also be insurance issues) · AJ was such a drunk/ drug addict at that point that it was impossible to hide anymore or deny that he was in trouble (he was missing interviews, scheduled appearances, and stories were emerging that he was abusing)
The only way to save the situation was to put AJ in rehab- no one could touch them at that point and they would have the public's sympathy if anyone caused a fuss. It was more of a business decision than anything else.
The tour isn't slated to begin until late February and there are some dates in early March. It's a total of 6-8 shows; easy enough to pull off and then go home. If AJ is in bad condition, he can still make it through those concerts, as it is not a major tour.

They can't ignore it because people are going to ask.
