I've been really stressed out lately trying to find a job. If I don't find one soon then I'm gonna have to move back home (and I hate my hometown,
so this is not an okay option with me). Everytime I talk to my parents lately all of my frustration boils over and I end up crying. Then I feel like shit for
the rest of the day and cry at any little thing because I'm already in that place in my head. I've pretty much been crying since Friday, and I just
got off the phone with my dad which didn't help at all.
I hate the economy.

You need to chill out and take whatever kind of job you can find. That will give you some income while you look for a better job.

Are you looking for a job in your field or just any job?

Take some deep breaths. A lot of people are going through similar situations. I totally understand your stress. I went through a little crisis not to long ago
where I cried like every day. I have a job, but a lot of people were getting laid off and it freaked me out.
Good luck. Like sweet banana cake said, take what you can get for now. Something that will get you by until you find something better. |

I've practically given up on trying to find jobs in my field. I'm pretty much applying for everything. I have tons of experience as a barista, but so
far I haven't even found any coffee jobs.

The mistake a lot of folks make is holding out for the one job they want. Like "I need a job as a nano stuffer, and that is the only job I will
accept!" Instead, go find any job that is open. At least you will be making an income.

I'm signed up with a couple of temp agencies, but I'm not getting much luck. NYC is not a good job market to be looking in right now.

Oh geez, you didn't say you were in NYC. When I was there last a couple of weeks ago, the market was dismal. No one was buying at all. One of the companies
I had hoped to work for in the future is hanging on by a thread.

Yeah, it seems a lot easier for people to be hopeful if I don't tell them where I live. 4 of my friends, including one of my roommates, have already been
laid off in the past 2 months. One of my other roommates works in Finance and fears for her job every single day. Even the retail jobs are hard to come by
because there are so many people unemployed right now. And pretty much no one I know is getting temp work right now because, again, the demand is so high.

Also, try looking at places that people will always need: hospitals, grocery stores, UPS (they pay a lot), USPS, hotels, restaurants, etc.

I am in the same situation right now. My Company went bankrupt last November and I have been looking for a job since the beginner of December. I have been to a
bunch of employment agencies but they are all very slow right now, nothing happening! We'll see, I have been applying like crazy so hopefully I will get
something happening soon! Good luck with your search!!!!!!

I'm in the same situation. I cannot find a job. I'm still living at home. I feel like a LOSER. I went to college and made good grades and then went to
law school to get a good job. Now I can't find one. I cry and feel like life is not worth living.
Then I realize so many people are going through the same situation right now. Hopefully things will get better soon. I apply for any job and still don't get calls b/c I'm over qualified. |
