I had a feeling he might have but I was hoping for the best. He had an away message up yesterday saying he was trying not to think about bad news. He's
been worried about his job security for awhile, and today he has an away message up saying he's unemployed.

Whatever you do, the next 50 times you see him, don't make that the first thing you ask him about. It gets fucking annoying.

I won't... if he wants to bring it up, he can but I'm not going to.
I have a feeling this is making him feel worse than when he first got laid off at another company. The first time, they were outsourcing his job. He just purchased a condo too. |

He was a software engineer/programmer. I'm confident he'll find another job... hopefully one that satisfies him. He wasn't really happy with his
former job.

Its not going to be easy for him to find a job. There are thousands of software engineers/IT people that have been laid off, and not many jobs out there. My
husband has been laid off since Dec. 15th-- still doesn't have a job. Just support him the best you can.

Well, there seems to be a fairly good number of open software jobs in my city. He's also not entry level and has some experience under his belt, so that
will definitely help. On the downside though, there are lot of people competing for those jobs so I don't know. We'll see.

It really speaks to the economy when Microsoft and Sun are laying off people. My husband has 9 years experience in software testing and 5 years in
programming--- it means nothing when companies are trying to save money. They will go to the cheapest person that will get them through.

Well, I have confidence he'll find something, perhaps not right away but hopefully in the next few months. I'm also in the software industry and my job
security was also uncertain until yesterday, so I've been keeping my eye out for the job market here in my area.
