I didn't think he'd get in as a nominee but I hoped he might squeeze in there The subject seemed to be about the Best Actor catagory which is why I didn't mention Kate Winslet. Personally I'd have rather seen her get a Best Actress nom for RR and a Supporting nom for the Reader. It'll be harder for her to win with a nom for the Reader. However I do not hate Brad Pitt. I just wasn't impressed with his performance in BB!

And I don't find the chemistry between him and Kate either!!! I also watched the Visitor. This film is now on dvd if anyone cares. It was a beautiful film, well acted by R Jenkins. If I want to put money on this race, I would pick Mickey Rourke. Academy loves a comeback performance of a down and out actor.

I didn't enjoy this performance. It is a tough movie. I think you either really love it or really hate it. Same for the performances.

His performance was not enough to guarantee the first 5slots. all the other 5 there deserved it. I think it is unfair to say that Angie and Brad just made the cut because of their celebrity status and not their talent. That is totally unfair!!!

Leo was amazing and totally deserved the nomination. What do you expect from the Academy though? They only nominated Brad and Angelina for the ratings and not their actual "talent." That is such an ignorant comment. If they only nominated for ratings than Brad & Angelina would have not been snubbed for A Mighty Heart, Jesse James, and Babel. If they nominated just for ratings, then The Dark Knight would top the Oscar noms with Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay noms. But the AMPAS don't care about ratings. The individual members don't consider ratings when they're filling out their balllots. But yes, Jolie's nom was mostly for her A Mighty Heart snub. But she was already a lock because she received nominations for SAG, BAFTA, GG, and Critics Choice. She also won Satellite Best Actress and the winner ALWAYS gets the Oscar nom/win. The locks were Hathaway, Winslet, Streep, and Jolie because they had the precursors. Sally Hawkins, Melissa Leo, and Kristin Scott Thomas were fighting for the 5th spot.
