The main reason I am Republican is because I hate Democrats that try to take away my air conditioning and truck.

I try to be as environmentally conscious as I can, but I'm definitely not gung-ho about it. I'm fine with my non-organic food and clothing.

I have the organic sheets from Target.
But, the only reason I got them is because they were onsale for like 20 dollars. And they are SUPER soft. |

Who cares if they don't know anything about technology or aren't as "educated" as your friends about the issue, that doesn't mean that people are stupid and don't know anything about being more environmentally conscious. Maybe you should get off your high horse. |

We have energy efficient bulbs throughout my whole house, I've stopped getting plastic bags when I shop, I got a reusable water bottle, etc. etc. I can't afford a lot but I try to do what I can. Oh and organic clothing is so soft! We have organic cotton jeans at work and they're so much softer than all our other jeans. |

I have the cfl bulbs but that's really it. If "green" stuff were cheaper I would probably buy them. I don't agree with paying more for a
green product that comes with less product in it (ie: cleaning products).

Speaking of cleaning products, wouldn't it be greener to just make your own instead of buying these 'green' and organic cleaners?

I'm not gung-ho about it and I frankly think it's all starting to get a bit annoying because "going green" has turned into such a buzzword
that the media is just really playing out and products are "going green" so they don't get protesters up their ass...but that's just MHO.

i'm all about recyling. i feel bad if i throw an aluminum can in a trash for example instead of recycling it but some things are just ridiculous to me.
my friend for example started a blog and the background is all black and she says this way we'll conserve energy. but it seriously doesn't make any sense to me b/c the most efficient way would not to read her damn site all together. a black background is only going to do so much. i found it annoying. |

I find it really annoying that "going green" is as superficial of a trend as it is. Don't get me wrong -- I'm really glad that people are
beginning to do more good for the environment, but for so many people it's just something that they've latched on to and could easily be apathetic
about tomorrow. If that wasn't the case people wouldn't feel the need to say "...but I'm not, like, a hippie or something" following
"I recycle" or "I don't litter." It's just ridiculous. "I aim to not destroy the world that I live in, but it's not like
I'm an extremist or weird about it or anything." Oh, okay.

I'm not "gung-ho" about this green trend because no matter what I (or anyone else) does we're already pretty much screwed. LMFAO at the idea that buying recycled organic cotton clothes is going to do jack shit other than make you look like a hippie retard. I would like to do more, yes, but I feel that this green movement is a trendy new-age marketing scam that big business is capitalizing off of. The only "green" is whats going back in their wallets. I could go on and on about what I've heard about carbon footprints and global warming, but I gotta jump in my hummer and go to work. Kidding

I do a few "green" things but there is definitely a lot more I could be doing.
I don't pay for paint with low V02 emissions ... they're more expensive than regular paint. I don't have solar panels because they're hella expensive and fugly. I do use plastic shopping bags to line my green bin (wet garbage) because what the fuck else am I supposed to use?! I also drive a gas-guzzling mini-van; I inherited it so all it costs me is maintenance and repairs. And I make use of the cargo space a lot -- I can't downsize now! I do recycle -- Toronto has finally made some big strides with what can be recycled lately. For example, we can now recycle foam cups and foam plates (the kinds meat comes packaged in). And shopping bags! I don't know anyone in Toronto who doesn't recycle except those who live in apartments because they don't have that option. I buy dish detergent that is low in phosphates for the sake of the environment because I am aware of what a big issue this is.I have Energy Star appliances (not because of the environment, but because it means cheaper bills for me). And I make my own cleaners sometimes using vinegar, baking soda, etc. |

I don't get why people care what someone's motivation is. So what if they're doing it because it's trendy or to look good? It's better than
doing nothing at all.
