This just in: Conan O'Brien's final "Late Night" show will be Friday, Feb. 20. Jimmy Fallon will take over the show 10 days later, on Monday, March 2. (February sweeps will be in March this year due to the digital TV switch on Feb. 17.)
O'Brien will be off the air three months to move to Los Angeles, and prepare to take over "The Tonight Show" June 1 from Jay Leno. Leno leaves "Tonight" on May 29, takes the summer off, and starts his 10 p.m. Mon-Fri show in the fall.
So expect to see a lot of promos for Fallon and O'Brien during NBC's Super Bowl telecast on Feb. 1.
Here's my question: What kind of promos will WLWT-TV (Ch 5) air during the Super Bowl? If the station is hiring Jack Atherton, will they still be
promoting the Sandra Ali-Sheree Paolello team? Atherton's Fox 19 contract prevents him from appearing on a competitor's airwaves for nine months, or
October..... Remember back to the Summer Olympics in August, which drew huge ratings, when Ch 5 heavily promoted Ali, Sheree & Derek Beasley.... and two
months later, they split up Ali and Sheree at 6 & 11 p.m., and moved Derek Beasley to mornings? How will Ch 5 use the Super Bowl promotional
opportunity?
