I used to drink soda like that. I stopped drinking it in 2003. I've had like 2 since then and they were ginger ales when I was sick in 2006.

Have you tried switching to seltzer water?

My mom used to BOTTLE FEED me soda. (Don't ask. lol)
As a result, I was hooked on pepsi for 24 years, drinking a 2 liter a day, or more! I dropped the habit with 2 things - running (nothing hits the spot like H2O after a run) and getting pregnant (that much pop is horrible for the baby in utero.) I suggest you go with the first suggestion, though, unless you really want a baby. |

I RARELY drink soda - diet or sugar. I do drink club soda, seltzer, mineral water. And I LOVE iced tea.
Your body likes the sugar and caffeine. Transition out of it. Do half reg and half diet. Ween yourself off. Start drinking juices (I even water down juice because it is too sweet). Get some sleep, too. When I quit I went to diet soda. then I went through an organic phase and went to natural sodas. Now I think the only time I do drink sodas is with alcohol. |

I freakin LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE how pepsi tastes in a glass with ice. LOVE IT! But i don't want to be fat and unattractive and full of cellulite.
NOW and especially when i'm older. I probably drink it once a month or once every couple of months, i don't even keep it in the house. I hate Coke,
but i like diet coke with lemon. Mountain Dew gets me sometimes too, but rarely. I think it's okay to drink soda once in a while.
My dad had kidney stones from drinking too much soda when i was a little girl. That scared me a bit. A couple of people have told me that when there is a bloody accident scene, yspill coke on the ground to suck up and clean the blood. I don't know how much truth there is behind that. But can you imagine if it's true? Imagine what it does INSIDE YOU. OP, have you seen the video where the leave raw meat sitting in soda over night? (or something along those lines) THAT really grossed me out towards soda
Nothing can really make you stop besides yourself. For me, fear of being really fat is enough to get me to quit it. |

I want to be healthy and fit but I notice that I'm happiest when I eat and drink the things I love. When I can't do that I get depressed. I know that's pretty typical for someone over-weight and insecure but it's a mind set thing that hard to get rid ofWhy don't you try to find "recreations" of foods that you love to make things a bit healthier. For example: If you love french fries, try making potato wedges from baking potatoes, if you like cake try eating strawberries with angel food cake, etc. That helps me to fulfill cravings but to eat a bit healthier. Propel is really good if you want something with flavor. Or some of those flavor packets like someone suggested. (But watch their sugar content.) I love having a glass of cold soda but I've learned that if I just don't buy it I won't have the temptation to drink it because it's just not there. I drink it once in a while when I'm out but I normally order water...mainly because I hate paying so much for something to drink. |

When I was in high school, my mom and I had a bet to see who could go without diet soda the longest
so at that point, she stopped buying it. It took me a LONG time to get the
point where I would drink plain water but now that's all I drink for the most part. Anyway what I did was go from diet soda to carbonated flavor water
since I still craved the carbonation. Then I started drinking Fruit2O, which became my drink of choice for a long time. I think it was when I started college
that I started to drink plain water 50% of the time and Fruit2O 50% of the time. By my senior year I was just drinking plain water.
Like others have said, I wouldn't go straight to plain water (unless you're a big fan lol) because most likely you'll just quit and go back to water. I would transition from soda to carbonated flavor water/Gatorade/Powerade/Fruit2O/Propel/something similar. I wouldn't recommend fruit juice because it's high in calories. |

There are some fruit juices that are low in calories though.. like minute maid diet juices.

I agree with what Alicia said earlier.
I was never one to drink cans and cans of soda, but I did drink it quite a bit. And then one day like 4 years ago I just decided I didn't want to drink it anymore, so I stopped. I had a headache for a couple days, but it went away and that was that. The only time I drink it now is when we go out to eat, but we don't keep any in the house. And diet soda isn't a good alternative either. They still have loads of sugar in them and no nutritional value. But you can still indulge every no and then, just in small quantities. I eat healthy and drink almost only water (Crystal Light if I want something with flavor), but if I get a craving for a piece of cake or a cookie, well I'm going to eat it, but I'm not going to gorge myself on it, and I know I'll be working out harder in the gym the next day. It's really all about being able to control yourself. |

It's really not that hard to quit. From the time I was 14 until now (I'll be 25 in March) I drank about 4 16.9 oz bottles a day. I got tired of all the
weight gain, the nasty after taste in my mouth, and the amount of money spent. So one day...I stopped drinking it. I don't buy it or keep it in the house.
I drink water with Crystal Light packages. They have no calories, no sugar, and little to no sodium. It's not as healthy as drinking straight water but I can't stand/handle the taste of plain water. And if you really need a caffeine fix then there's packets that have caffeine. Those packets do have some more sodium than the regular ones, though. But I guarantee it's a lot less than what you're intaking with the Pepsi. |

I have tried to quit drinking soda a few times before cold turkey, and it never works. The caffeine withdraw is really hard to deal with! I had the most
success with just cutting back. If I told myself I could have one can a day, I started to savor it more. It eventually became easy to only have one.
Unfortunately, I fell back into the habit over the last couple of months. I seem to have more trouble resisting it in the winter for some reason. |

diet sodas dont really make u lose weight..organic soda is the best way to go becuz they are actually healthy. diet sodas are more unhealthy than regular sodas
becuz of its ingredients despite less sugar. and then there is that nutrition content to take into account. diet sodas usually have none.
lol just stop drinking sodas altogether and move onto healthy stuff

Walmart and Sam's sell this flavored sparkling water that I got my hubby to switch to (he's a pop addict and refuses to drink plain water). Water's
obviously best, but this stuff is carbonated with some flavor so it's not too bad apparently.
Pop can be my downfall too but when I need to cut it out I just stop cold turkey. If I'm okay with my weight, I allow myself one pop a month. LOL |

I live off of G2 now (Which is almost like a diet Gatorade). I'd recommend Gatorade but the sugar in that is almost just as bad as pop and should really
only be drank by athletes or people right after a work out.

When I cut out or back on soda I go from dark colas to light or clear ones as I try to eliminate them.
I don't like clear sodas as much as the cola ones so I'm less likely to grab one and I'll start grabbing them less and working myself off of them. For the headaches because of the caffeine difference I'll take an Excedrin migraine to help since they do have caffeine in them. |
