Well my mom's friend was throwing a "little" New years get together with my family and hers. Well turns out that her daughter invited half of the damn highschool. Which to me is whatever. They all head down to the basement (mostly dudes) to be loud, stupid, and just do teenager things. Well one of the boys comes upstairs and grabs a beer from the fridge. My mom sees this and quickly tells her friend. My mom's friend didn't do anything but ask the kid if he's 21. He said no told her some damn story and she let him go with the damn beer. Next thing you know, the kids come rushing upstairs to grab liquor and head back down to drink...NONE OF THEM ARE OVER THE AGE 18 AND THEY ALL DROVE HERE! Of course the mom didn't do squat shit. Then more kids show up around 1 in the morning and grab beer from the fridge. Shit was ridiculous.
Do you see anything wrong with this?

It's beyond wrong and she's doing the kids no favors that's for sure. Kids around here get in trouble for that if they're athletes. All
athletes here sign an agreement saying they won't drink nor will they be at a place where alcohol is being served to minors. In instances like you've
described, the parents serving the alcohol are arrested and the kids drinking are suspended from athletic competition. It's ugly and your mom's friend
is an idiot.

She could get into a lot of trouble if they left the party and then got pulled over.

It is. I wanted to call my friend(her daughter) and ask her what was up with that? But mom told me not to. It's just shocking cause this lady would be
strict as hell with her daughter.

Plus, they were stealing the beer out the fridge? FFS. They could at least bring their own if they were planning on being rowdy.

If the kids are driving home that's not cool at all. After prom my senior year I went to a friend's house and her parents were both home and knew
people were drinking. However, if you were drinking they had a house rule of taking your keys and you get them back in the morning.
I mean teenagers now a days definitely drink and will be stupid so it's all on the parents shoulders if they are home. I've seen a few stories on the news about house parties getting broken up and parents being arrested. They deserve it. I can't believe the mother was cool with the kids randomly coming up and taking liquor. Shits expensive. |

I definitely see something wrong with it. My brother threw a 4th of July party at his house this summer and his girlfriends sister ended up showing up with
like 20 people, as young as 16. Everyone was drinking and I was freaking out. The only thing I could think of is "What if the cops showed up?"
Because there would have been some serious consequences for everyone there. I even told my brother about the underage kids there and he didn't care. In
fact, he himself had invited some underage people.

If it was a small group of people and they were drinking AND they were crashing there for the night, then no. But if people were driving home, the parents
would be liable if God forbid they crashed and injured themselves, somebody else, or worse, took their own or somebody else's life. Very dumb on the
parents' part.

That is wrong. I was alowed to drink a few small glasses of wine when I was 16 and 17 but I wasn't driving and I hardly had any alcohol at the time when I
was drinking it. If those guys are stealing beer from her and drinking it then going out to drive is definitely stupid and very childish.

I mean, even if she lets her daughter drink, unless she had parents permissions it's wrong and even with the permission, it's illegal because she is in
charge of what goes on in her household.

That lady is a moron. In some states she could be charged if anything bad happened to those kids.
