I have a Borders giftcard that I need to spend. I'm thinking along the lines of authors like Stephen King, etc. Thanks.

Stephen King just came out with a new book that includes a bunch of short stories. I got it but I haven't read it yet.
Have you read The Stand by Stephen King? It's long but really good. I also enjoy Robin Cook and Dean Koontz. |

Anything by Stephen King. The Shining is great. His son wrote a book that's awesome called "Heart-Shaped Box." Most of the books on my shelf are
horror.

You should read In Cold Blood by Capote.

Oh! And The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty. Check out Richard Matheson, as well. Maybe The Amityville Horror. It's not written too well but it is scary.
If you're into more scifi stuff read Invasion of the Body Snatchers or Day of the Triffids.

I read a lot of books about murder so everyone thinks I'm a creep
I like 20 Questions, but it's not so much horror. It's more mystery I guess. It's about a murder... |

Anything by Irvine Welsh. He wrote Trainspotting.
He is THE most brilliantly fucked up writer you will ever come across. Try starting with "Ecstasy". It's three short stories, one of my favourites. |

How about Dean Koontz "The Bad Place" totally fucked up!!
Frank Pollard wakes up in an alley at night, filled with confusion and fear. He knows nothing but his name, and that he must escape fast, or else he will be killed. Pursued by a mysterious assailant, Frank barely escapes with his life. Every time he goes to sleep, he wakes up to find evidence of bizarre nighttime travels which he cannot remember. Afraid of his own actions, Frank enlists the help of husband-wife security team, Bobby and Julie Dakota. At first, the case merely seems crazy, absurd, but as they track deeper into the life and past of the mysterious Frank Pollard, the Dakotas uncover an increasingly bizarre and dangerous world threatened by a madman who thirsts for blood... |

Anything by Chuck Palahniuk. He is by far my favorite author. Everything he writes is fucked. I'd say Invisible Monsters might be what you're looking
for, but Survivor is my favorite and the one I always recommend.
