Especially since most of the people in my office have taken off, it just seems extra empty and quiet.

Yeah, I'm right there with you...I work in a small office building, and there's only one other person here besides me. We handle technical support
questions for an educational website, and in the past 7 hours, we have taken only 22 calls between us!
 I'm sitting here writing up grocery lists and budgeting things and anything
else I can do to make the time pass by faster!

 That's EXACTLY why I took off today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. Over
half of my group is out, not to mention all of the other people who are out so it's probably eerily quiet. I have to go in Friday and I'm sure it's
going to be a ghost town.

yeah really! i just got back from vacation yesterday and i only work today and half a day tomorrow and i am off the rest of the week
 i am taking the 31st
off to go to Raleigh, for new years, but that is it.

I wanted so badly to take off these 3 days, but I would just be wasting my vacation days sitting at home doing nothing.
(And I feel like I don't have
that many vacation days, so I'd rather save them and use them for when I really need them.)

See since it's my first year, I HAD to use my days by December 31st or I'd lose them. This upcoming year though, I can buy and sell them.
I've basically been sitting home doing nothing but...yeah. It's weird when I have free time because I'm not used to it at all and don't know what to do with myself Plus I can't help but think about work even when I'm not there.

I am glad I only work two days this week. I am taking Wednesday off to fly to Houston to spend Christmas with my family.
