about your plans for next year? I'm going to see a lot of relatives this year and I need a strategy. I'm not about to say all my tentative plans to
them this year only to have it thrown back in my face if things don't happen to work out, you know?

Try not being in the same room. Don't take their calls. Change your e-mail address. Move and leave no forwarding address. Wear a disguise when you go
out.

Just say you're taking life week by week so you'll see what happens.

Just say "I'd like to..." and say a broad plan, then finish with "but we'll see." That's what I do.
It avoids saying too much. |

I face similar issues. I just say I'm looking into a few things, but who knows.

Just say you don't have any particular plans if you want to avoid the subject completely or tell them about you plans making clear that they're just tentative and dependent on a number of things that may or may not happen But it's not that serious, people make plans and then change them or don't go through with them for one reason or another, I
don't see a reason to not talk about it just because you're like everyone else in the world and can't say what's going to happen in the future

What about something like "I've got a few things up my sleeve, but I don't want to jinx anything by talking too early in advance. I'll let ya
know next Christmas how they worked out ...hardy har har."

Thanks for all your replies. It's given me some good ideas. I don't plan on sweating over it but I just thought I'd get some ideas on how others
avoid annoying holiday questions
