Has anyone ever read Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife? I just finished Pride and Prejudice...again...and I'm tempted to go get this "sequel" but I'm afraid it will ruin P&P for me. Any input?

I haven't read that one, but I read one that was P&P but from Darcy's perspective. I won't waste my time with any other spin-offs of P&P.

I read the first few pages of it once and thought it was dreck.

It's a LOT of sex, lol, so don't get it if that bothers you. I got a third or so of the way through the book...it was entertaining but I had other
books that pulled my interest more so I returned it. I don't think it really ruined P&P for me...I kind of just thought of it as a separate story.

It's somehow wrong imagining Elizabeth and Darcy having sex.

This reminded me of something - at one point I found Jane Austen mystery novels. I swear.
Here's the link to the first one. I couldn't believe it. It's so... weird! http://www.amazon.com/Jan...qid=1229270208&sr=8-2 |

I read it. It was horrible. It seems like she is writing after she saw the BBC movie. She uses language that is not at all like Austen's voice. It is just
a sad piece of fanfiction with a bunch of sex.

I started to read it and got halfway through before I pitched it. It was HORRIBLE. The writing was awful and the sex scenes were pretty gross.

I wanna read Pride and Prejudice. I have the movie-tie in that I found for cheap, but I can't seem to find it for SHIT!

Is the BBC movie better than the one with Kiera Knightley? I LOVE the Kiera version.

Nothing beats the BBC version. It's the best. I can't stand the Kiera version. Colin Firth is the only Darcy!

I love the cinematography of the Kiera one. There are some beautiful views of England. And it's nice to watch a shorter version if I don't have time
for all 6 hours of the BBC one.

For a long time I hated the BBC version after I bought it -- I loved the Keira one so much and couldn't imagine anyone other than Matthew as Darcy. Plus I
really hate how obnoxious the mother is in the BBC one. However, I've grown to love it almost as much as the up to date one.

I read Pemberley and it was OK, a little annoying because they made Lizzie a little wimpish.
Bought "Two Shall Become One" last year and find myself putting it down more often than i pick it up, am still going through it. There's a lot of sex in this and it makes it almost disrespectful to the characters that Austen created. |
