Yes, my husband and I went through that. I lived on the east coast, he lived on the west coast. Now we've been married for a year and expecting our first
baby soon. It's up to the couple how much they want to invest in the relationship.

I think that if you are really in love, and each person wants it to last then it will and can

my cousin and her bf had a long distance relationship for a year when he went away to school in Australia (she's in Toronto). they made and seem more in
love now than ever.
and my other cousin and his gf (my friend) have a long distance relationship but it's not bad bc they're only 5 hours apart and see each other every other weekend. i've never been in a long distance relationship so i'm not sure if i could do it or not. |

I'd say it depends on how dedicated the couple is.

it depends when you get separated...if you start off that way it wont last unless its temporary. If you are strong and close and go away for a little bit then
I think you can make it work

I think they can work for some people as long as the relationship doesn't start out as a long distance relationship. I know some do work out, but I think
that always being apart makes it harder to stay together.
I haven't done it so I don't know if I could. But I know I would try a hell of a lot harder if I was already in a relationship and one of us had to move away (and the other couldn't). |

I think it can as long as the couple is very committed and trusting and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even if you love someone, unfortunately I
don't think there is a real point to being in a relationship if there is no chance of one person moving closer.
But, as long as you know that it is temporary and you are willing to wait it out, yes, I think it can work. |

it can work, communication and trust is the most important thing. I was in one for almost 3 years, he was 3 hours away and i saw about once every two weeks. I
didn't even mind it that much, the time you do spend together is just all that more special.

Yes. I was in one for 4 years...8 hours away. Depends how committed the couple is.

I've been in one for 3 years. It sucks but if you BOTH are dedicated and work at it, it can work.
