Thanks. She's not bad. I hate that I might have to start liking her.

This may sound like I'm hating, but Etta James really did not sound impressed with Beyonce. Of course, she hadn't seen the movie yet, but it totally
came off like Ms Etta was reaching for good things--or not mean--things to say about Bouncy. Watch her face when the interviewer asks if she's a fan.
Bouncy said she did a lot of research, but from what Ms Etta said, they barely even talked. |

Beyonce's voice is a gift from God, but her acting abilities are severely limited. She always gets a ton of praise for doing a mediocre job in a movie
where she's essentially playing herself.

She also watched some of Etta's performance videos, but she didn't wanna mimic her. She wanted to make the part her own I thought what Etta said was cool. She said she could sing and she was pretty. She hadn't heard of her before this, so she says. |

I know she said went to a rehab clinic, and for that part of the role that's okay. However, you're playing a person who's alive but you base your
performance on videos and not on meetings with this person? To me that's no different that creating your own character who just happens to have the name of
a famous person.

If she weren't alive all of that would have to be enough. Etta would tell her "I walk like this. I sing like this" and it would look like she's trying to mimic Etta James as opposed to owning the Role. |

Well, here's what Angela Basset did before portraying Tina Turner:

Jamie Foxx? FINE example of a Carciature and not someone who BECOME the character. However, we all have different opinions, so we shall see how this
performance turns out

Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about Bey in this role, and no, she's not overly praised for her acting before. Even with the Golden Globe nom
before, she's never received all of this praise. I can't wait to see it!

As a friend of many aspiring actors the thing that gets me is Hollywood is so obsessed withe money that they probably passed on many women that could've
pulled Etta off much better than Bey but b/c she's Bey she automatically gets dibs on the role. I know Bey has paid her dues as an artist but she's
done a few films now and her acting chops just don't cut it.
But the same way a director took a chance on Bey, directors should be more willing to take risks on newer faces. In Bey's "critically acclaimed" work she's been outshined considerably. In regards to actors portraying real people, I always feel the performances depend largely on the writing of the screenplay. It's no surprise Forrest Whitaker and Helen Miren both won awards for their performances both screenplays were written by the same screenwriter. The material was just too strong for then not be able to pull it off as well as it did. I know many actors have excelled with less than steller writing but the actors who seem to transcend usually have very strong writers creatiting work for them.

Calendria wrote: I agree with the aspiring Actor things, but I also feel that just because you're a singer you shouldn't be put in a box. I feel they should get coaches because us Aspiring Actors have them also and I feel like they should go through training like we do, So I will Always give Beyonce credit for that since she could've just went through films like she had been doing. At least she is attempting to be better |

New promo...All I can say is give her a chance. Some of the most respected actors started off really bad. Not everyone starts off like a Barbara Streisand, James Dean, or even a Jennifer Hudson. Remember that, just look at early Hillary Swank work who would have thought she would be a two-timer or Jamie Foxx.

Many of you are obviously haters of Beyonce. She is doing her thing in those clips. It is a shame that you can't commend a person for their talents and
doing good. Jealous Haters!
She is a singer first and that is what she does, so it would only make sense that most of roles are as singers because that is where she shines. |
