...is okay with splitting the bill evenly among everyone or do you only want to pay for your portion?

I pay for my portion. I normally don't get a giant ass meal so I'm not trying to contribute to everyone else, especially when I'm poor as hell.

I usually plan to pay for mine. I don't mind if it's off by a few bucks, but I don't eat a lot so I'm not going to pay for someone else's
$30 meal.

I pay for my portion. I have friends who enjoy expensive ass drinks while I'm sipping on my sweet tea.

While it makes sense to split evenly, if you go to Applebee's or something and you only get fries and a soda, why pay $30 bucks?

We always just get separate checks.

With my husband's family, whoever invites others out is the one who pays. Man-oh-man...sometimes there's a lot of people!

Yeah, I'm the salad type. Never really can eat a whole whole lot.
I'm not paying for your appetizer, steak, shrimp, martinis, etc. - when my order was $6.99. I'm not poor. I'm also not stupid. If it's a lot of people all with relatively similar meals - yeah, whatever. I don't mind an extra few bucks if it'll shorten the wait. |

I'd rather pay for my own order separately. I don't have the money to pay for others' food if my order was less money than theirs and I would feel
weird if my order was more expensive and others were helping pay for it.

I don't mind splitting evenly, unless everyone else orders way more food than I do or something that's much more expensive.

I don't mind splitting if we go out to lunch or something, but when it's dinner and my friends all order 3 drinks plus appetizers while I just get an
entree and water, then I'll pay my portion.

i like to pay for just mine. i'm a vegan and my salad typically doesn't cost as much as the rest of my friends burgers and such. i don't want to
have to pay that much more.

We all have an understanding we pay for our own unless we owe money to somebody else or it's someones birthday.

aperfecttrifecta wrote:Exactly. I usually order fairly cheap at restaurants. I also have friends who order multiple alcoholic beverages, a dessert, steak or the most expensive seafood option, etc. Why would I pay evenly when my meal probably cost 10 dollars and a friend's 40-50? |

Splitting the bill equally isn't fair at all. What if my food costs $20 and someone else's costs $50? Not fair.
Pay for your own shit. |

They ordered all this veggie stuff and we're meat eaters. Then they ordered a fucking whole DUCK (I guess fowl was okay in their veggie world) and that bitch was like 30 bucks alone! Then they said, oh let's split the bill evenly. We were like .
