been in office the last 8 years? I know that a lot of people voted for Obama because of their dislike of Bush and his policies, so do you think Obama have won
the election, or at least by as wide of a margin, had a Democrat been in office?

It would greatly depend on who WAS in office and there is no way to know what would have happened. It's not really a valid question.

Well this election seemed different from the last in that people wern't just voting "against Bush". They were voting "for Obama". It
was a nice change.
So no, I don't think it would have too much of a difference. |

Yes. Bush/McCain didn't lose this election, Barack Obama WON this election.

No one can answer that, or even speculate.

The political people were saying how the climate was like the same as when Clinton was elected so it definitely greatly helped that Bush sucked and economy
tanked

It depends on how well the Gore/Lieberman administration did.

How could you ever know the answer to this?

I think this was different. People seemed to vote for Obama rather than against McCain or the last eight years.
Had Bush not been elected who knows if this would have happened because we could have had 8 years of Gore or 4 of Gore and maybe 4 of McCain....any number of possibilities. |

I think it made it a lot easier for Obama to win. Very few people like Bush and saying McCain was another four years of Bush had a lot to do with it. Say it
enough and it won't matter whether it's true or not.

Jewcie wrote:Not necessarily. McCain had LOT of crossover appeal for Dems. If you ask, I'm sure a lot of them would say that McCain was the only Republican they could ever imagine voting for. But of course he went a fucked that up. |

Easy? This campaign was not easy. It's like taking the accomplishment away. Sure a very few people liked Bush, and that added to it but that wasn't the
sole reason nor was it the big deciding factor.

Whatever. Obama would've seen a difficult campaign if the republican party hadn't fucked themselves over. It was handed to him. I'm not saying he
wouldn't have won anyway, but they lost the election on their own.
