country, but when Kerry ran it was ok to attack his service? Not to mention, (almost) EVERY Democrat that spoke gave him praise for serving our country at the
DNC. I don't recall Republicans giving Kerry praise for his service.

Because McCain was a POW. Because Kerry came back from serving and went on to criticize the war and his country.
Yeah, there really is no answer. |

See that's what I figured it might be. I know people were pissed when Kerry criticized the war, because you know, he wouldn't know better than anyone
else at the time.
Personally, McCain's POW is moot for me. |

Sad, but true.

Yep. Even Keith mentioned this a few weeks ago to Senator Kerry.

He was a POW what, 30 years ago? That holds no credence with me. I'm worried about the here and now, not whether or not McCain served in the armed forces.
Plenty of leaders of our country (senators and presidents alike) haven't been in the armed forces and they've been fine leaders. I don't think
being a POW, etc. makes you more qualified.

I agree with you it doesn't. ESPECIALLY when you a POW and were tortured than go, "Oh, there's nothing wrong with us torturing our enemies!"
:blankstare Alrighty.

I feel that if a decorated and highly respected General *Wesley Clark* can criticize him then it is definitely a legitimate issue to address...but that
won't be enough to win him the election just everyone's respect and admiration

The thing about mccain is that he was an awful pilot, nobody would have been allowed to down as many planes as he did and still be allowed to fly. Basically it
was fair game to call his service into question back in 2000 when he was running against bush but now he's a f'in hero and it's off limits. So is
palins failure family because her 17 year old daughter getting knocked up by a self confessed red neck who claimed to not want kids on his myspace doesn't
speak to her failed theory's on abstinence only education. pundits and poloticions are hypocrites, just look how well that whole inexperiance thing went
out the window when mccain shacked up with sarah.

It's not just Kerry either. Republicans also attacked Max Cleland, who lost both his legs and an arm in Vietnm. They don't have a leg to stand on when
it comes to attacks on McCain (and keep in mind, I don't think I've seen anyone actually attack McCain's o the basis of his veteran status.).
