New McCain Web Ad: "Hot Chicks Dig Obama"The latest McCain Web ad takes the "Celeb" tag to a whole new low -- it proclaims that "Hot chicks dig Obama": "We know he doesn't have much experience, and isn't ready to lead, but that doesn't mean he isn't dreary," says the announcer, followed by footage of two women at rallies -- both of whom are white, mind you -- complimenting Obama's looks. How long until "Barack, call me" ends up in a McCain paid TV ad? |

McCain inflates Obama celebrity more, raises sex appealJohn McCain's campaign will release a new web ad today that continues to portray Barack Obama as a bigger-than-the-Beatles celebrity but that also directly raises the matter of his sex appeal for the first time. "Fan Club" is designed as a parody of an 80s-era album compilation ad, with testimonials from starry-eyed supporters and some conventional jabs at Obama. At the end of the ad, though, there is a pivot to paint Obama as not just a celebrity, but a boy band heart-throb who makes the girls go weak in the knees. Calling Obama "dreamy," the spot features a woman praising "the aura around him" and another the Democrat's "very soft eyes." A man then summarizes, "Hot chicks dig Obama," before Wayne and Garth of "Wayne's World" fame are shown on their knees doing their signature "we're not worthy!" routine. |

Ooh, looks like it has hit a nerve with some of the Obama maniacs. Yes, you do look and sound that stupid when you gush over Obama.
But anyways, it's not brilliant, it's just ridiculous and hilarious. It's a good tactic, but it's not being executed well. What's even more laughable here than some of the Obama crazies is the McCain campaign. |

I'm completely missing the connection here. He's dreamy, but should he be president? There are many people that could care less how "dreamy"
he might be, but genuinely think he would be a better president for a lot of reasons and if one of those reasons is because he's dreamy, then you're
just as ridiculous as the McCain campaign's ads. If you're casting your vote because someone is older or younger or hotter than the other guy, I'd
rather you not vote.

Like I said, it's a great thing for the McCain campaign to try and do - they're just not doing it very well. Over time, it could have some effect
(Daschle, an Obama supporter and surrogate, has already come out and said that these "celebrity" ads are having a negative effect on Obama), but I
don't see it ever having the same effect as the Bush ads calling Kerry a flip-flopper and questioning his ability to lead.

Obama has a lot of negative ads against McCain as well. Race card, Bush 3rd term, not to mention all of his backers like moveon.org (remember the sickening ads
of baby alex)?
How come no one said Obama is desperate but McCain is? btw, I tried to watch Keith Olberman on MSNBC, I couldn't stand MSNBC fawning over Obama, it's truly like a fanboy. So McCain ads just put what many people think into visual

It's absolutely flawed and could be carried so much better, but don't doubt the possibility of this strategy's effectiveness.
Pew Research: Presidential Race Draws EvenAccording to a new Pew Research poll, Sen. Barack Obama's national lead over Sen. John McCain has disappeared. The race is now a statistical tie, with Obama barely edging McCain, 46% to 43%. In late June, Obama held an eight point lead.Two reasons for the shift: McCain "is garnering more support from his base -- including Republicans and white evangelical Protestants -- than he was in June, and he also has steadily gained backing from white working class voters over this period." McCain "has made gains on his leadership image. An even greater percentage of voters than in June now see McCain as the candidate who would use the best judgment in a crisis, and an increasing percentage see him as the candidate who can get things done." |

If you look at who has more negative ads, it's McCain. Apparently 35% of his ads are negative and I believe Obama's was 19.
There's a different in being negative and trying to over hype something that's not there. OBama has been in a lot of publications......but so has McCain, it's funny how McCain and his people will attack Obama for a interview in People, EW ect...when they also interviewed Obama, let's not forget that McCain's OWN bio on his website called McCain a celebrity cause of all the "stuff" he's done...and since they started attacking Obama...it's no longer there. Wonder why. It also seems to crack me up that these celebrity ads put out by McCain paints him as bitter. ESPECIALLY after that interview with his manager. It's basically like in their eyes, since a lot more people seem to "flock" to Obama, and making him pretty popular, that equals being a celebrity. DAM Obama for being more likable than McCain. |

yeah accusing someone is celebrity is not more hurtful than accusing someone as warmonger.
How many times Obama insinuates that? He doesn't even need to run ads...it's free. We all can read it in newsweek, MSNBC, CBS. |

Well, when you run around saying we need to stay in Iraq as long as possible...like Bush....or the 100 year war bullshit.
Maybe McCain should be thoughtful on what he says/really means and his words can't be used against him. I mean if people can do it against Obama....they can do it against him. And if you want to talk about insinuating things, let's bring up how many times McCain's allies have brought up the Muslim word? |

I don't think anyone is accusing McCain of being a warmonger, he IS a warmonger. Just look at the hard on he displayed over the possibility of going to war
with Russia
