If you can't tell, I have a big family and a lot of us live in the same general area. In my moms immediate family, the person who lives the furthest away is my aunt, and she only lives like 5 miles away.
The peeping tom is now breaking into my cousins apartment

Irsh, this guy has been doing it for a while now. I have a like 3rd cousin or something distant like that who lives in a neighborhood across from mine and
he's been going to her house for 3 years now, peeping in her window. My guess is that it all started after we graduated high school which was 3 years ago.

Tell you cousin to go to Academy and buy some bear mace (not regular mace). If they don't have it order it online. She needs to keep that on her at all
times. She needs it in her hand with her finger on the trigger and her apartment key in other the hand when she gets out of the car. When she does anything
outside she should not be on a cell phone and she should make it obvious that she is very aware of her surroundings. Get an air horn too.
Go to a local gun range and tell them the situation and they will probably help. Ask them to shoot up a paper target for her. She should put that somewhere where he will see it. If she can buy a gun, even a shotgun, do it. Write up a flier with his description and put it everywhere. Tell all her neighbors about what's specifically happening to her. Get motion sensors for all her main interior lights and the exterior ones too if she has some. If she can get some kind of flood light for the dark areas around her apartment that would help too. |

Didn't someone else on JJB have the same problem? The guy kept coming inside the house and she said a webcam up to catch him. Maybe your cousin should do
the same thing.
Or she should call some of her friends... like 10 of them and when the guy walks in, just attack him and hold him down till cops come. So he isn't taking anything from the house? He just comes inside to use the bathroom? |

That's the thing. She leaves all the lights outside her apartment on 24/7. She has one at her front door and one at her back door and the only time her
front light went out was when the bulb burned out and that got replaced the next day. So he's bold enough to go to a house where the lights are on.
It'll be a little hard to carry mase in her hand at all times though because she's always carrying her infant daughters car seat in one hand and usually has her diaper bag, purse, keys, her sons stuff from daycare, etc. in her other hand. All of her neighbors know what's going on. She lives in a small neighborhood (the kind where you know all of your neighbors, what's going on around the neighborhood, etc.) and she updated everyone yesterday as to what was going on. The only people who don't know are the ones across the street who don't speak English. |

Another suggestion to go along with the webcam idea would be a wireless webcam. I find that most software that comes with webcams these days include motion
detection software where the computer will start to record video as soon as the camera detects movement, and of course time stamps the video. This way you
don't have to sit and go through hours and hours of video if you were to have a regular webcam set up. I'm sure if you go to your electronic store and
say you need something that can do this they should be able to provide you with quite a few different suggestions.

No, we don't know the guy. My 3rd cousin or whatever she technically is to me, she told me that I graduated with him but I have no clue who it is. There
was over 600 people in my graduating class and she could also have the wrong graduation year too. I don't even know how she found out. Based on the
description the guy gave on Saturday, there wasn't anyone that I graduated with who looked like that though. So my guess is that it was someone who
graduated a year before me or something.

Here's a map to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. My cousins apartment is the little red circle and our grandparents house is the big
red circle.
Closer version
When the guy saw him on Saturday, he took off running towards the apartments to the right of hers if you're looking at the picture and then went running back into those woods. |

Sorry if you said this already, but where do you live that the police aren't doing anything about this?? Can't she file a restraining order against
this loser?

Like a lot of others have said, write to/call some news organizations and such. And send the story to as many blogs sourced locally as possible. Sometimes cops
won't do anything until either something horrible happens or they're embarassed and humiliated into doing it.

Short update
They still haven't caught the guy. He was at one of my distant cousins houses on Monday night (I think I talked about her in this post. He's been going to her house for 3 years now). I guess her neighbor saw him standing on her air conditioner outside her house and called her house to tell them and her husband went chasing after the guy while she called the cops. The cops brought the blood hounds out (for the first time) and chased his scent for a while but I guess they lost it. I'm guessing that her husband lost him or something too. My cousin was yelling at the cops telling them that they need to do their job and that she knows shit has been happening on the road my cousin and grandparents live on and they had the nerve to tell her that they didn't know of anything going on there. Fucking liars. But, her husband shouldn't have ran after the guy. They should have just kept on doing what they were doing and called the police and let them catch the guy. Oh, and they think he was in their house because they have flood lights that are on a switch that are motion sensored. They just keep the switch turned on all the time so that way if someone walks by, the lights come on. Well, the switch was turned off so the lights didn't come on when he walked by it. Because of that, my cousin whose had her apartment broken into had me sleep at her apartment last night because she was afraid the guy would come back. Well, at like 11 when we were getting ready for bed, I was in the bathroom peeing and she saw some guy who matched the description of the guy who was in her apartment like 2 Saturdays ago walking down the street. She started pounding on the bathroom door freaking out about seeing him so I ran out and called our grandparents to see if our grandpa could see him out his front windows. My grandpa couldn't see him so we're guessing that he went into the woods or something behind her house. He probably was going to try going into my cousins until he saw my car in her driveway and knew that she wasn't alone.

WTF. Does this guy have some weird thing with your family? And the cops are still not doing shit? I agree going to the news. Not only will that light some fire
under the asses of the cops but that would also make people who might not know this is going on or might have seen something but not thought much of it more
aware.
As far as your grandparents go. I'll say this again, they need to get a freaking alarm for their house. She can turn it on while she's in the shower and if the doors or windows are open it'll go off. That happening once will stop people from coming into her house. And it's scary that people are comfortable to be coming in their house like that knowing that someone is home, I don't want to think of what could possibly happen. Force them to get an alarm As for your cousins. They can get little window and door alarms for their apartments. You just install them on the doors and windows and they beep when someone opens them. Kinda like when you go into stores and it beeps every time the door locks. Also get little nanny cam type things to catch this guy in the act. There's also little cheap alarms you can get that you just plug into the wall. I saw that on Flip this House or whatever, some one keep breaking into the house they were working on so they spent $80 to get a little alarm that would go off if someone came in. |

They still haven't caught the guy.
Since the last update, as far as I know, he's only been at my cousins apartment once (he popped the lock on
her back door) and hasn't been to my grandparents. I don't know if he's heard us talking when I'm over there (we've talked about having
stake outs, tazering him, etc.) or what but I'm not going to complain and I'm sure that she isn't going to either.
And my cousin can't get a dog or anything because she rents her apartment and in her contract it says that she can't have cats or dogs or anything like that. She can only have fish and pets that stay in cages. She has one of the alarms that you can put on your door when someone opens it (she go them for her kids actually) but she can't get the thing to stay on her door. And when she does get it to stay, then she can't close her door after she opens it. So, she kind of can't use that. |
