Ah, I'm so happy for him and that his fans could share the moment of hearing the song with him.

Look at this adorable picture that's part of this video with his single:
The user said it's from a magazine, there's another pic most likely from the same shoot in the person's profile background image...how cute! |

I'm so happy for him!
I so hope this is a hit for him. I'm in love with the song. Question regarding the lyrics! Does he say in the chorus,
"I'm tryin', tryin' to walk away..." or "I've tried and tried to walk away..."? I think it's tried and tried, but
people with lyrics and such are saying it's tryin', tryin' so I dunno! |

http://img375.imageshack.us/my.php?image=71qz37cj3.jpg Here is a translation that someone else did on another board: PAGE ONE: DAVID ARCHULETA AT THE SUMMIT Boosted by his acclaimed interpretations in the TV show American Idol, the young singer of Honduran origin is pursuing his dream of connecting with whomever wants to listen By Isis Sauceda [Picture caption]: PROUD "It feels good when people appreciate what you do," says David Archuleta (in Los Angeles in June). The Archuleta family went several months without joining together for dinner as they used to at his Murray, Utah home. Well, it was not easy. With two of its members, Jeff, the father, and David, the second of five children, more than 600 miles away in Los Angeles, living together was impossible. But the sacrifice was worth it. After all, in the first months of this year David Archuleta fulfilled one of his most cherished dreams of singing week after week on national television as one of the favorites of the popular program American Idol. "I always imagined a scenario," says David Archuleta, 17. Adds his mother, the Honduran Lupe Archuleta, 42: "I always had the children sing at family reunions, but clearly David was the one who stood out the most." That is exactly what he did in the televised singing contest. And while his son did not become this year's American Idol in the finals of the show in May - he finished in . . . PAGE TWO: . . . second place behind David Cook - he did become the first Latino to succeed, and his participation there has opened the doors to a promising career. This summer, Archuleta not only will participate in the American Idols Live! Tour 2008, but will also begin working on his first album as a solo artist. "This show was not easy for him, he just made it look easy," says Michael Orland, pianist and musical director for American Idol, about Archuleta, who will graduate from high school next year. "He came as a genius and left as a genius. All the participants aspired to reach his level." Despite all the applause and millions of votes he received from viewers (his fans call themselves the "Archies"), Archuleta still seems incredulous in the face of such praise. "I thought that nobody liked to hear me sing," says the now uninhibited performer who grew up listening to Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan and Selena thanks to his mom, who is also a fan of Thalia and who as a young woman lived in Miami and sang in the singing group The Sisters Mayorga. "I was always embarrassed." However, he pretended to sing before a vast audience in the patio of his Utah home while his parents watched. At 10 years old, Archuleta had already made his television debut, and at 12 he won the talent contest Star Search in the youth division. Now, the boy who has traveled to Honduras to sing at a charity would also like to pay tribute to his Latino roots by perfecting the language of Cervantes, which he only speaks with his maternal grandmother, "because she knows my faults [speaking Spanish]," says Archuleta, who when not in front of a microphone is listening to music on his iPod. (Among his favorite singers: Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion and Michael Jackson.) His own career as a singer was in danger when it had barely started. A year and a half ago, Archuleta received medical treatment for vocal chord paralysis. "The doctor told us: 'There is someone up there who wants him to sing, because medically he should not be able to sing,'" recalls his father, an American jazz musician of 47 years. After therapy, the youth began to sing again despite the initial difficulties to speak and even breathe. At this time, however, no one can stop him. "I feel a connection when I hear other people sing; if I achieve that also, it makes me feel really good," said Archuleta. "Hopefully I'll be able to make many albums. I would love to make music in Spanish. [Something with] Luis Miguel would be awesome." [pink box]: "David is a good boy. He has always been sweet, caring, respectful and obedient," says the singer's mother, Lupe Archuleta. "He has always been very nice." Above left: David Archuleta on vacation in Kissimmee, FL, with his parents and sister Claudia in 1995. Above right: in one of his performances on American Idol. [caption on his... chest!]: "The doctor told us: 'There is someone up there who wants [David] to sing, because medically he should not be able to sing,'" -Jeff Archuleta |

I'm pretty sure it's, "I'm tryin', tryin to walk away"; plus, that's what the lyrics on Elvis Duran's site say, though there
are some typos and no grammar in that one
And thank you so much for the pictures and article! I know we've heard about the vocal chord paralysis, but reading the quote that "There is someone up there who wants him to sing because, medically, he should not be able to sing" made me put things into perspective that I've never thought about; he has such a gift and I'm so glad he can share it with all his fans. |

So I decided to look up lyrics of songs David has performed and this is what came up for "In This Moment":
"Mother, can you hear me for the first time I see born into eyes not by my own decision take me away from a life with no vision step down from the subway, climb the staircase to the street spinning in circles and holding on tight to this moment forever if only tonight -Chorus- I wanna be in this moment, no one can take it from me I wanna stay in this moment, no one can take it away from me Driving through the city for the first time you and me staring through windows at my own reflection how can a window encompass perfection now that I know what it's like to be living this beautiful world will never stop giving I can't return to a life with no vision born into eyes not by my own decision -Chorus- Watching the world through the eyes of a child sitting alone in my room wishing that someone would take me away someday give me a chance and I'll show you what's real open your eyes and you'll see that I'm stuck in a moment and no one can take it from me" Did I miss the memo when the rest of the lyrics were released? I still wish he had a recording of this. |

A lot of people thought that song was cheesy, but I really liked it. I also wish he had a recording of it.

I was at the AC show! David was awesome. I was standing next to Mr. Archuleta the whole time and I was too embarrassed to ask him if I could meet David.
But it was cool to watch his support for David. He was telling the guard next to him that was his son up there when David was performing. It was cute. He was
also very supportive for the other contestants .. I notice he liked Brooke's set a lot and David Cook.

Aw, that is awesome you ended up going to a show, Sham! And I understand about being embarrassed and you never know if he would've taken it the wrong
way...at least you got to go support him, like you said.
Did you buy tickets in advance? With all the tour mania, I decided I really want to go and should take the opportunity...so I am thinking I will try and go to the buses during the day, then wait in line at will call. I got awesome tickets at will call for Justin Timberlake last year, but I'm not sure how it will work this show *fingers crossed* Plus, tickets aren't sold out, I just would like better seats than the 300s...I'm staying optimistic since Jt was huge and AI is more accessible, in general. I bought tickets in advance. I lucked out on ticketmaster and managed to get a pretty good seat. Which city are you trying to go to? That was like my
dilemma too .. even though I had a ticket, I kept checking will call to see if they released more and I would buy a better seat. I got there earlier in the
day and was waiting in line for them to come out.. but it was so crowded and I was afraid to lose my spot to check with will call. Finally at about 4
something, the guy came out and said the Idols got delayed in traffic and would not be able to come out and sign autographs.
So I waited out there for
nothing basically.
Honestly, check ticketmaster the week of the show. They release more. Even the day of the show, they had 7th row seats. Which show are you trying to go to? |
