i "run" on the elliptical about 5-6 miles a day. I told a co-worker of mine and she said that I shouldn't tell people I run %-6 miles a day
because its not really "running". What do you think?

It's not running. It's using the elliptical. It's much easier because you aren't propelling your body weight forward on your own.

eh... whatever. I move my legs so much that it will get me 5-6 miles. I guess I don't care what its called.

No, I think the elliptical is about a million times harder than the treadmill. I hate it.

An elliptical is much easier on your joints than running - less impact, so not so much wear and tear

No because I'm a smoker and running makes me want to die a little every time I try and get on a treadmill. I much prefer the elliptical cause I have no
problems with it but yeah, it's not running. Although in my experience I've always burned way more calories on that than a treadmill.

I think I read somewhere that the calorie and distance counter on ellipticals aren't accurate.

tttodayjunior wrote: That argument could be used for biking, walking, kick sets in the pool. What makes running actually running is that at certain points in your stride, both feet are off the ground at the same time. That does not happen on an elliptical. |
