My scars didn't go away but that's due to my mother and her persistence of trying to pop pimples on me when I was younger when they were no where near
ready to pop. So she'd dig and dig, no matter how much I protested and it hurt, to try to get it to pop.

As evil as it sounds, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I just have to look at the bright side, it's not the end of the world. And my doctor told me that people with acne tend to age better.. so perhaps it's a good thing?

I'm so glad I found this thread! I have such bad breakouts around my mouth and chin area, and like most of you, I don't feel like I can leave the house
without putting on some makeup.
I am using the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash now and will occasionally use the oil-free/stress relief scrub in the shower, but I rarely use a moisturizer because I feel like the moment I use it, I'm going to break out. What moisturizer do you guys use? I thought about buying the clinique "yellow moisturizer" (is it called Dramatically Different?) but wasn't sure how my face would react. I used the Clinique 3-Step system when I was in middle school (I'm 20 now) but I didn't have acne as bad back then. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to try that system again. (anyone know when their bonus days are? |

My acne got really bad when I was 17. I started to get a lot of tiny white heads on my forehead and my cheeks. I went to the dermatologist and she told me to
try Glytone face wash and Retin-A. They got rid of my scars and the white heads. I'm 20 now and I still use those exact same products to this day.

that didn't work. If you do buy anything over the counter, it should only be a gentle face wash(Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash is great, I use that too), a
non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, facial moisturizer with spf(I use Neutrogena Visibly Even Moisturizer with spf 15), and in addition with that, whatever cream
the dermatologist prescribes you.

I've suffered since I was like 12, until now, im 20 now. I tried everything you could get from the drugstores, even Proactive, and even that didn't
work!
I was recently on YAZ and it seemed to help. Plus the dermatologist put me on Solodyn a few times, which is like an antibiotic, and it worked GREAT! Im also on a prescribed face wash, and creams. Unfortunately, I just started Yasmin, and I have broken out more than I have in the last year. If it continues, im going to try and switch BC.

Since on the subject of OTC stuff, Neutrogena is your best bet. If you go to the dermatologist and he/she prescribes you something and then tells you to try
this otc stuff, that otc stuff will 9.9 times out of 10 be a Neutrogena product. They seem to be less harsh on your skin and don't leave a buildup or smell
or whatever behind.

I've had acne for a long time, I'm now 25. Ive tried everything from proactive, creams, antibiotics, gels. Finally starting BC Pills along with
Aldactone pills cleared it all up!

My effing dermatologist won't give me Accutane! She just keeps giving me creams that DON'T DO SHIT. I'm making an appointment this week and see if
she suggests SOME kind of pill. I'm just so over having these issues. My skin the past few days finally seemed to calm down and then today one pops up near
my bottom lip that is killing me. I'm sick of it.

Why won't she give you Accutane? Unless it's a health problem, it's time to find a new dermatologist. My old dermatologist was a total bitch, so I
found a new one, requested Accutane, and haven't looked back

I agree that it's a last resort, but if you've been going through this for years, I personally think it's time for something more permanent.
