Is there really no cost to me as a renter to use apartment finder people (apartmentfinder.com)? Does the apartment compensate them? Or do they have contracts
with specific apartments or something?

From what I understand, these apartment sites have contracts with the apartments for advertising them. And when you go to see the actual apartment and you
fill out that introductory website, make sure you tell them how you found the place.. what specific website. And then you notify the website that you are
signing with them and the place you rent from is supposed to discount your first month's rent by 100 dollars. At least that is how it works on rent.com
But sometimes they are shady and try to not discount it. |

I use places like moveforfree.com and umovefree.com so that I don't have to move my furniture. Sometimes I have to register with the apartment complex
through the apartment search website. I then list them on the card I fill out when I go to visit, as well as on the application. When I'm approved for the
apartment, I notify whichever company I went through, they confirm with the complex, and I schedule my free move.

The apartment complex compensates the apartment finder company - it truly is free for the renter.
