Sadly I think some people are fully aware of how it hurts the wife/children and even manage to feel guilt for it, don't entirely lack empathy. Yet they're still self absorbed enough and can't drum up the self control to stop... I almost find that worse than somebody who's just incapable of empathy, if you can feel that pain and still decide to inflict it.
That's what I've been trying to say. Every person is going to think of others when they make decisions.
