WTF at the 2nd case. If I were Jay and Grant, I would've been pissed.

No, I missed it. What happened???

Yes, and that was totally obnoxious. The way the guy laughed at the end, like it was no big deal, pissed me off! What a waste of time.

They were checking out a resturant and the place had set up all this fake shit like speakers, they rigged a mirror to make it seem like a weird face was
looking back at you and hooked up the hanging lamps to a timer to make them shake and move.
The guy tried to claim that he "forgot" about that stuff. |

What an ass and a waste of time.

He was a complete ass. I felt bad for TAPS. Jay was really pissed b/c he was going on about how they could've been helping someone who needed it like a mom
or whatever.

I was going to post about it on here last night but then I figured it would get moved to the TV forum so I didn't bother.
You know what though, I'm GLAD they chose to air it because hopefully it will do a number on the amount of business Moss Beach gets from people who DO think it's haunted. Fuckers. Oh and don't forget, Grant almost busted up his ankle while trying to find "fake" stuff. |

It was funny b/c right before this episode came on I was telling my dad about the Queen Mary episode where someone had faked something during that
investigation.
I agree! I'm glad they aired it and you know what, it WOULD keep me from going there. I don't want to see/hear fake shit and even if I did experience something "real" how would I know? |

I thought they were going to be a little more stern with the guy because they were pissed. And rightfully so. That was messed up. I wanted to kick that guy in
the head. "Yeah.. yeah... uh huh..." They were so testing TAPS... but they passed their stupid ass test because they found them out.

On their blogs last night after the show aired, they had to ask viewers to NOT call/write/harass the owners of Moss Beach because some fans were getting REALLY
worked up over it. But you know what, I think they deserve to be bothered after that crap.
Oh well, like I said before, the best way to harass them is to make them have a decline in business. |

I wouldn't harass them, I just wouldn't visit their establishment and I might voice my opinion on a MB/Blog....
I'm sure they really wanted to lay into them but they have to be professional no matter what. |

If you read their book, there are a couple different times when people have tried to pull a fast one on them. I think people forget they're dealing with
professionals

What's the book called? I'll have to pick that up.
They should do a special where they air all the fake BS people tried to pull! |

oohh I loved that episode last night!! I have actually seen that place on other shows about hauntings. I wonder if its always been fake?
I wanted to slap that guy when Jay and Grant were talking to him at the end. He just looked too damn smug for me. He claimed he 'forgot' to tell them about the rigged stuff, but I guarantee you they probably thought they were going to be able to trick the ghost hunters. FAIL.
***From the Sci-Fi.com/ghosthunters message board*** Loyd Auerbach has given me permission to post the following statement about Moss Beach Distillery. Loyd here discusses genuine paranormal phenomena at the Distillery and their relation to the rigged effects at the Distillery. Hopefully this will help Ghost Hunters fans (and critics) better assess next week's episode, which features TAPS investigation of the Distillery. From Loyd Auerbach: "I was involved in the initial set up of the special effects at the Moss Beach Distillery in the late 1990s -- which are computer-controlled/recorded recreations of some of the reported phenomena at the Distillery, phenomena which began in the early 1930s. However, the effects were deliberately set up with specific lamps that were not previously reported as moving (it was other lamps), a different mirror in the ladies room (different from the mirror where the ghost's image has been seen multiple times), etc. "The computer records all simulated effects, and individual activations. In that way, if there's any question as to whether 'the ghost did it' or not, there's a record to check. "No effort to hide the effects has been made. I (Loyd Auerbach) have discussed the effects in several televised and print interviews, on multiple radio shows, and in his extensive write-up of the Moss Beach Distillery case in his book A PARANORMAL CASEBOOK (Atriad Press, 2005). In one major cable show (which constantly repeats) detailing haunts in the Bay Area, the Distillery was featured and the segment included the special effects. "Googling the Moss Beach Distillery brings up articles that mention the special effects. "I spoke with a producer identifying himself as working on GHOST HUNTERS several days before the team was to go to the Distillery. While the conversation was about the Presidio in San Francisco, the subject of the Distillery came up -- I asked specifically if they were aware of the special effects. I was told they were. "The likely reason neither the owner nor the manager mentioned them is because there are SO many places where the effects are mentioned. Anyone doing even light research on the phenomena in sources less than 10 years old can hardly help but run across discussion of the effects. "Finally, the reported phenomena has been occurring since the early 1930s. I got involved in 1991 and have conducted numerous investigations there before any special effects were installed. There has been real, documented physical phenomena at the Distillery prior to the installation of the effects. I have personally had numerous experiences there -- something I can't say about a lot of places. "I helped with that installation (consulting, helping to get the initial contractors, and more). The phenomena is real. The phenomena went on for over 65 years before the effects were even conceived of. The effects are fun, to add to the 'experience' of the restaurant. And the effects are no secret."
