There has to be something wrong right? She said she gets it once every few months, and a few times it diddnt come within 5 months! She says she hassnt gone to
a doctor cause she gets zero cramps, shes not sexually active, eats well, and hassn't been sick or anything! I'd say I'm jealous.... but that cant
be right, can it??

She is taking someone to skip them? If not, something could be wrong with her.

I am REALLY irregular like that. Sometimes I skip 2 months. Sometimes I'm regular.. If I were her I would get some blood work done.. There could be some
hormone imbalances going on.. My doctor for some reason was looking at my testosterone levels. I'm not sure exactly why, but it's always safer to check
it out IMO.

...... That's how I am. I only get mine every 3 or 4 months too, and I've gone almost 10 months without getting it.
A lot of my friends tell me to go to the doctor, but my mom says it's not unusual to be irregular. |

She might have PCOS.
That's what I have. Lately I haven't gotten my period unless I take BC. Then came a time where I had it 3-4 times in two months. but more than often, nothing at all. |

Irregularity isn't a definite sign of a problem, but it could be a symptom, and I'd go to the doctor to get checked out.

I have the same problem . A few weeks ago I went to have a pap smear done and come to find out I have a imperforate hymen. My doctor couldn't even find an
opening. She said the reason why I do bleed at times is becasue it could be as small as a stick pin.

I had the same problem for years while I was in HS then about eight years ago I got it one month and it didn't stop for six months. I found out I had PCOS.
She should get a check up.

whitneybabyx3 wrote: Irregular is usually your period changing from say early in the month to later and also flow. I do not think skipped them for months at end would be consider irregular. A lot of time when you skip it is from some kind of health issue, too much stress or excerise, possible even not eating right (as in eating disorder)... |

^ Thanks for clearing that up. Now I'm worried. I read about PCOS and I do have some of the symptoms. It may just be a coincidence though. I'll have to
make sure I go get checked out soon...

If she's under 18, it probably hasn't regulated itself out yet. Mine came every 45 days and then sometimes skipped a month or 2 so it wouldn't come
for 3 or 4 months. It finally started being regular and comes every flicken 28 days on the dot.

She should definitely go to the doctor. I had the same problem, didn't have a period for sometimes years. Or I'd only have maybe 3-4 a year. It came
back last March with a vengence, heavy periods for 3 months at a time. I went to the gyno and he said I had PCOS. I'm taking Provera since February. So
far, I'm having a period when I'm supposed to. I have to say though that I miss those times when I didn't have one!

It comes out of me when I actually do get a period but a lot of times it's very light.
I shouldn't have referred to it as imperforate hymen, that's just what my sonographer called it but she didn't know much about my condition anyway's. Obviously I have an opening somewhere considering I do get a period every now and then, it's just not big enough to see with the eye. Microperforated hymen would be the correct term. |
