It was amazing and so heartbreaking. Setsuko, omg ,so adorable . How old were the 2 characters supposed to be, I assumed 3 and
15.. But I just don't hate Seita's character at all, he was such a caring brother and the aunt was cruel and was mistreating them , of course if he had
swallowed his pride and withstood teh abuse, they would at least have enough food to survive .

I totally agree with cidade de deus. it made me feel sick to my stomach for an entire day afterwards, just... completely fucked up and terribly sad.

outside This scene right here is the toughest to watch and it's heartwrenching because this is based on true story and If I'm not mistaken, the group of
these little kids in this movie, the runt (Caixa Baixa gang), they are the current leader in Rio favella (slums).
**warning warning warning - not for the faint of heart - can be very disturbing***

Libran Girl wrote: How do you like Only Yesterday? I am thinking to watch my brother Totoro (also from the same producer) but I'm thinking after Grave of the fireflies,
perhaps, things will go pale in comparison. I believe Setsuko is supposed to be 4 and Seita is supposed to be 14. But I believe in the human version, they
cast older kid to play setsuko (she's 5 or 6 years old I think).
The other similar movie that gives me almost similar melancholy as Grave of the fireflies is Nobody Knows (Daremo Shiranai). This one too is based on true
story and some of the scenes, you can feel some similarities with Grave of the fireflies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408664/

Million Dollar Baby was extremely sad, but there is no sadder movie than Brokeback Mountain. The last scene with Ennis and the shirt - seriously, seriously,
just heartbreaking.
