I'm desperate too, my luck with men has not been great, I've been screwed over too many times this past year and not in a good way
We're staying a place called Puerto Plata, on the north east coast of the island. It's apparently where all lthe American tourists go, all the Europeans tend to go to Puerto Cana. So hell yes bring on those Yanks! 
We've got some sort of all-inclusive deal which means meals, drinks everything is included in the price (which we've paid off). If we want to venture out, e'll obviously have to pay for those excursions. Ocean World is like 500 metres from our resort, so we'll be able to swim with Dolphins, swim in a shark reef/ pet the cute sharks  among other things.
There are also day trips, there is a religious one which I personally want to try and do It's a cable car up to a statue of Jesus. There is a day trip
to a place called Paradise Island, which is like a Castaway/Robinson Curesue type island where you get to lay out, get fed a spread of traditional Dom Rep
foods and go snorkeling in the clear blue Caribbean seas!
Basically my plan is too get a sun kissed golden tan, bag an American boy, swim with Dolphins, DRINK! Free drink at the swim up bar, Alcohol is my friend and just enjoy my girly vacation with Katy. We've planned many midnight walks on the beach and just long girly chats and  I'm the Ying to her Yang,
the bread to her butter, the knickers to her bra, the Justin to her Britney 
Anyways, here's a few pictures; 
We're also thinking of making a Holiday Video blog? If ye'd watch it 
Ok that all read like a tourist guide, holiday essay when I'm sure all you wanted was a few quick sentences  Sorry!

Ah, sounds like fun Liz! Whatever you do, if you decide you want to do something, like an excursion or a day trip, check with the hotel for pricing and then
walk down to the beach and see if you can find a local guide. Near all major resorts and hotels (actually anywhere there is a concentration of tourists) there
are local guides and they are cheaper than what the hotel charges, sometimes by bartering, you can get it for half as much. If your up for an all day thing,
some walking, climbing and don't mind getting wet the Damajagua tour (a waterfall climb that is actually like 21 or so cascades where you can swim and all
that junk) is close to Puerto Plata.

Oh I think I saw a video on youtube of that waterfall! Have you been to the Dom Rep? My budget for outside excursions will be pretty limited I think, we're
not going till July, but unless I get a job it's not looking good

No we have to pay $20 departure tax when we leave. I forgot about my tourist card, did you do yours before you went?
