I take advantage of the classes at 24 hour fitness. Each week I take one kickboxing class, one pilates class, one strength class, and on the others days I do
cardio for one hour (running and/or elliptical) and then 30 minutes of lunges, stretches and abs. I go a total of 4-6 days per week.

I try and keep it different every time so my body doesn't get used to routine. I just make sure I do at least 60 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of
weights.

Pretty much everything I do is group fitness.
My gym has all the popular Les Mills group fitness programs, so I will usually do BodyAttack (aerobics/cardio) 3 times a week, BodyPump (weights) twice a week, yoga and/or BodyBalance at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I will do Combat (cardio type class using all types of combat/fighting styles) and I'm trying BodyStep for the first time tomorrow. This pretty much covers my entire week. On the rare occassion where I am working out on my own, I will usually try and get 30 minutes on the eliptical or on the treadmill plus 2km on the rowing machine. Then I'll spend 30 mins working on a certain muscle group. Right now I am really focused on strengthing my ankles because I have so many ankle-related grievances in the past couple of months and I'm sick of it Of course, I also dedicate a lot of time to stretching. No matter what I will always make sure I do yoga 3 times a week, whether I'm on my own or in a class. I am looking to bump it up to 5 times a week. I would definitely recommend looking into doing some classes if your gym offers them. It really breaks up the monotony of working out on your own. I always look forward to going to the gym because I enjoy all of my classes... ....wow, I sound like a massive gym junkie. I'm really not. |
