I ask Yoda things about salary and stuff like that because he has experience in this stuff.

I understand that but you should still be making these choices for yourself.

You know if you'd went to college you might have learned a few skills that would have helped you in this situation...and THEN just maybe you wouldn't
have to rely on YODA to tell you what to do.
I mean you might as well have sent an email that says, "oh hai, I wuz stoopid. I jest keddin bout that 55 thouzin dollers. I meent i will werk for sex on ur desk. k bai!" |

I cannot believe you did that. Regardless of what this Yodaman/Svengali/man you think swings from the moon tells you, it wasn't a good move. You don't
go balls to the wall in an interview, then take it all back with an email?
I wish you the best of luck whatever you do, but the entire Yoda guy getting involved in your employment negotiations is just juvenille and bad business. If you go to work at this place with this mentor of yours, you need make sure he doesn't become your voice. Don't ever let someone else besides yourself negotiate a job salary. I know you are just going to come up with excuses for this man, but seriously, it would be like me taking my dad into a job interview, stand my ground throughout the entire process, then have my dad in my ear, and doing my bidding on the back end. |

I don't believe Yoda works at the company she interviewed with.

No, I interviewed with a different company. Not his. Which means that if I get this job that I will not be working with him again, maybe not in the near
future, maybe not ever.
And the manager at Tahari thought the email was a good idea. I sent it before running the idea by her, but I can tell she thought it was a good idea. They need me, not the other way around. You can't low ball someone that you need. I mean, really.. if they went down to 50k instead of 55k that would still be awesome and probably easier for them to swallow. |

Well thank goodness for that, but why is Yoda telling anyone you support your household?

I think the part I love most about this is the reason you didn't want to wear lighter nailpolish is so you didn't come off weak and "girly"
and yet you pull this.
You brag about being so aggressive and yet at the slightest possible problem you just become so dramatic. |

Yoda told that to her though, that I support my household and..Inappropriate on his part. That is really unprofessional and none of his business. I hope, at least, in your e-mail you left it at "I am open to negotiating the salary if I am offered the position" and did not mention exact numbers. |

I'm so jealous because I barely make over 20K. Doubling my income would make me pee on the spot.Same here. I laugh at myself sometimes b/c I realize that I am making 12 bucks an hr and I busted my ass in college for 4 yrs for basically nothing. College is useless a lot of the time. Although sometimes it does help you get your foot in the door. My friend is an exec. admin. asst. to a VP and she is making 40K (which is super low anyway for that position), but she has had 8 yrs of experience and only has an AA and I think she is having trouble moving up/making more money b/c she doesn't have a 4 yr degree. One of my best friends didn't graduate college and she has the best job out of all of my friends and makes the most money...damn her

Of course I didn't mention exact numbers. I just said that I realized that I might have asked for too high of a salary considering the amount of experience
that I have, and that I am up for negotiations on an offer that I will leave up to his discretion. I in no way mentioned ANY numbers.

And what happens when they call your current company for a reference and they tell them how you treat people of different race?

They need me, not the other way around. You can't low ball someone that you need. And I can gurantee that they'll find someone with the same experience who will do the job cheaper. So no, they probably don't "need" you. If you're so business saavy then you should know the first rule of business. No one is irreplaceable. Furthermore, the majority of the people I know didn't go to college for jobs that make bank. I went to college to learn how to do what I WANT to do with my life. I may not be making as much money as you now, or ever, but I wouldn't trade my education, degree, and talents for more money. College is about much, much more than learning a skill. |

I really need to switch jobs. I can easily make atleast $50K-60K in what I'm doing and the experience I have but I'm barely at $41K right now.

Wow, you're a mess RP. It's time to cut the ties with Yoda. He obviously enjoys fucking with your head, whether you want to believe it or not. You have
a lot to learn about this kind of stuff.
Maybe I learned about it in college |
