You obviously aren't getting it. It's been said about 15,000 times in this post that NOBODY blames Justin for leaving the group. Nobody is angry that Justin realized his time to go solo was then, and seized the opportunity--it was a smart move on his part. BUT. People DO blame him for picking such a lame excuse, and people DO blame Chris and JC for going along with it. There was no need to make Joey and Lance feel responsible for a decision that they ultimately had no say in.
It was obviously Justin who wanted to end the group and if people want to be pissed about that, then so what? Let them. From what I understood, JC and Chris knew that it was the end. Why would Chris want to end something and then openly talk about how depressed he was and how much he misses the group? I don't understand people trying to defend Justin in this or say that Lance shouldn't speak up about it. This is Lance's story and for years none of the guys have straight up told the fans what had happened. So what if it's not convenient for Justin's reputation? All Lance has done is confirm rumors that we all knew existed but had argued over again and again. I think what pisses me off about Justin in this whole thing is how he's always saying how he goes against what he should do and that music shouldn't be categorized and that's exactly what he did to *NSYNC. They could have evolved but we never got a chance to see it.

Last time I checked, none of you are *NSYNC members, none of you were in the group, and none of you know how they felt. If they agreed with Justin, they had a right to. It's not like Lance's perspective is the only possibly right perspective. For all we know, he could've just gotten majorly defensive and felt like he was being attacked and blamed for something when all they were doing was having a discussion. I bet if JC or Chris were writing their version of what happened, it'd be different, too. And by the way, using OTL as an example of how the group was already changing and growing apart is not lame. It's a very valid point. So while Lance has a right to think and feel as he does, I don't think we should be pointing fingers at the other guys based just on his perspective. Justin, JC, and Chris have a right to their feelings, too.

It's the cheesiness of it all, I think. (I mean, they were always a little cheesy, but OTL was a big old stinky slice of cheese ). I know one of them (Joey I think) said that the lip balms and some of the merchandising used to annoy him... that kind of stuff, the stuff that might make people view them less as musicians than as the pretty boys who are there to sell shit to girls. I think OTL was probably an indicator that their names couldn't sell everything any more, the tide was changing, and I think it probably frustrated Justin who I think, even then, clearly longed for the musical credibility they deserved but were never given. The whole cheesy spin off boyband movie thing I think was probably just an example of the various downsides of being a mass marketed pop group.
I believe Justin just wanted to get out. He was always talented but nobody really took him seriously when he first went solo because of his boyband past. He just couldn't escape it no matter how hard he tried. Eventually people started seeing him in a different light. They started to see the talent, not some manufactured artist trying to keep up an image of something he wasn't. Look at Lance. He was pretending to be something he wasn't. He dated girls to uphold some image for his female fans. I just wonder if he told those girls what was going on. Justin saw an opportunity and he took it. Because he did that, those people overseas know him as Justin Timberlake or JT. Not as "Britney's boyfriend" like they did before. *NSYNC never did a world tour so that's why they only knew him as that. People change. They develop different interests. They grow up.

However, throw on some eyeliner, put on some skinny jeans, dye your hair dark and swoop it over your eyes, pick up a guitar, and you're in. You don't even need to have any real talent, either. But synchronized dancing and traditional pop music doesn't work anymore. I do think toward the end, with Gone and Girlfriend, they seemed to be putting out a more transitional sound, but I don't know that at this point, they would have been able to keep up with the trend.
Yeah, people hate confessing they like/ still like boybands, but I don't care if it makes me a weirdo saying I do. They at least had great talent, clean music, and didn't look weird
