I have mentioned that my niece and I have tickets for tomorrow. Our original plan was to avoid all spoilers all weekend so we can enjoy it all on Monday. However, since a wintery mess is predicted for tomorrow, we were worried all our spoiler avoidance would be for naught if the weather keeps me from travelling to her town for the movie. So we decided to just watch it just in case. Earlier today, we went to Hot Topic to get her fez, bowtie and suspenders---pretty much her Eleven gear for tomorrow if plans push through. I'm gonna bring my Eleven sonic to complete her outfit. She's a bigger Ten fan but it's easier to dress as Matt, .
Btw, when we were in Hot Topic today, we were going around playing with stuff. There was a Matt Smith stuffed toy where you press his chest and he goes, "Hello, I'm The Doctor" followed by the TARDIS sound. Then I got a text and my ringer for that is the TARDIS sound. I have the theme song too and I use that for calls, . Anyway, this pretty, high school girl who worked there comes up to us and was so excited. She said she heard the TARDIS sound and just had to see if we were DW fans. She said she saw her movie and I told her not to tell me anything, . She was surprised that there was another day of showing. We spent the entire time talking about DW and I even showed her my DW phone case and she ended up getting one of the guys she worked with to look at it too. She was just soooo cute and frankly, she and I would have talked forever if it were up to us,
Anway, I watched it tonight and I laughed, I cried, I squealed, etc . Basically the typical Doctor Who rollercoaster of emotions with "WTF" being said in varying emotions as well. All in all, I LOVED it with all my heart!!! I am going to put everything in a spoiler below out of respect for the other Whovians
I must say, I was bitchy about having John Hurt in the film when I first heard about it. I know he's respected and all but I know I wasn't alone. However, I am now sorry for that I did because he was amazing. He really took hold of the role and was just brilliant, BRILLIANT!!
Matt and David? How much do I love thee? As Doctors and as themselves, they just have so much charisma and their chemistry is just palpable. Someone needs to write a story and make a movie with those 2 together again. Don't care of it's DW related. I want MORE of them. . As a a whole, the 3 of them together was kick-ass.
I do have some quibbles. They could have chosen a better actress to play Queen Elizabeth. She's just not memorable. The role or acting didn't have to have the caliber of Cate Blanchett. I just think some other actress could have played her better. She had no sparks esp with David. How could any human with a functioning set of eyes not have sparks with David, ??? Also, if there was one time I wanted Moffat to lie, it was for this one. I really wanted to see Chris. Damn Chris and his principles, . For a second, I thought we would see him as Hurt regenerated and believe me, I was holding my breath but alas, Moffat did tell the truth, it was just recycled footage for that and the War Room. I also understand it was impossible/unrealistic to use all the past doctors as themselves seeing they've physically changed so much. However, I was really happy to see Tom Baker who really is the one of the most beloved of all the Doctors. The end where they're lined up just made my heart swell. I know it was a dream but the graphics could have been better. I also thought it was respectful and fitting that William Hartnell was separated and by himself. ALL HAIL THE FIRST DOCTOR!! Also, PETER CAPALDI's debut!!!!
Even with those few quibs, I still think they really did a marvelous job especially with the humongous hype and expectation. Kudos to everyone that worked onscreen and off. It really came off as a love letter to Doctor Who and its fans. Well done, .
That's all I can think of right now, will post later if needed.
nanny825, before the filming of DoTD, Matt and David knew each other through Billie Piper(Rose) who is a friend to both. With filming, that's how the bromance started and believe me, it's like a dream come true for me, . I just knew they'd get along!

You may find it on solarmovie or project free tv.
Actually, no one not even the BBC has all the episodes. This is all BBC's fault because back in the day to save money and/or space, they destroyed or wiped out the episodes. They had no copies of their own. Fortunately, the show was broadcast in different countries so those countries who still had copies were able to give some to the BBC. There is a continued search and a continued call for anyone to find the missing episodes. There are 106 missing. Here's more information about it:

Since it's Matt's last, I really hope the episode will turn out memorable. Matt really helped skyrocket the show's popularity during his tenure. He deserves an awesome farewell.

Did any of you watch The Five-ish Doctors Reboot? Oh my goodness, so hilarious and tongue-in-cheeky! Only the trailer is on youtube but you can watch the entire special here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01m3kfy
You know, I gotta hand it to Moffat and BBC for taking the 50th seriously. The movie was just really brilliant, with it earning a Guinness World Record for biggest ever TV drama simulcast as well, . However, he went the extra mile and am so glad he also produced The Five-ish Doctors Reboot. He's a huge DW fan so I'm sure he knew that the other Doctors would be missed. It truly was so nice and fun to watch those 3 (Colin, Peter, and Sylvester) in this special, The Five-ish Doctors Reboot. Oh and the cameos!!! It was so wonderful seeing
By the way, I had no idea Georgia took David's last name professionally. Seeing her credited as a producer with that last name was cute.
Oh and KUDOS to Peter Davison for writing and directing this. He should do it more often, this was fun!

duhawkgrl, the cameos I posted about were not from The Day Of The Doctor. The cameos I mentioned are from The Five-ish Doctors Reboot. I forgot to mention that
Anyway, the Gods and Mother Nature might be Whovians because DFW and the surrounding areas were spared from the icy conditions. I was able to drive up north and watch it in my niece's theater at 7:30pm last night. We got our tickets from the dispenser, ate at TGIF first and then headed to the theater. It's moments like this that I wish I were in NY or the UK because I bet they would have had daleks/cybermen/etc in the lobby or had the plastic soda cups with The Doctors on it or huge posters that my neice and I could have taken pictures with. Could you imagine being in the middle of David and Matt,, ? That's a threesome I'd happily take part of, . Anyway, my neice had her DW shirt with all The Doctors in it, her bowtie, suspenders and fez. I'm glad she dressed up because people did too. It was pretty cool. There were girls dressed as Matt, fez and suspenders and some that were wearing skimpy, body-hugging Dalek dresses. They must have been FREEZING! A lot of them were wearing their TARDIS knit hats and/or DW shirts.
My neice and I freaked though when we saw this tall, good-looking guy that was dressed as Matt, you know, just the coat, tie and suspenders---without the fez. Then we really freaked out when we saw this guy that was in a full-on Tom Baker costume---wig, hat, coat, scarf and all!!!
We ended up sitting at the very front and I sat beside this high school girl who was in the theater alone because none of her friends are into it. She came originally with a friend but that friend went off to see another flick. Anyway, I just adored her because she was just really fan-girling, . She, like us, had already watched it so she knew when the exciting or squeal-worthy moments were like we did, .
That was the first time my neice attended a film where there is a fiercely loyal, dedicated fandom. So she was delighted to see and hear the crowd wildly clap, laugh, squeal and scream all at the same time like us. People went nuts when Matt came onscreen, even wilder when David did.
After the film, there were people dressed up in the lobby for the 10pm show as well. A lot of them smiled at my in-costume neice and one of them even came up and said, "Good for you! You watch and like Doctor Who"? My neice was the youngest(12y/o) on both shows and the line at the 10pm show only had teenagers. One of the teenagers, without thinking, yelled, "FEZ!!" as soon as he saw my neice, . His Mom shushed him but we smiled though. We get it, we would have done the same thing, .
So anyway, on our way to the parking lot, we were passing this family. The Dad, I'm assuming, asked us if we were going to see Doctor Who. I told him we already saw it and then my neice saw one of the girls wearing a scarf and my neice said, "She's wearing The scarf!" as they walked past us. The girl heard and giddily said to her family something like, "She can tell just by my scarf" and I called back, "TOM BAKER!" and we all laughed, . As we neared our truck, I noticed this guy driving his car on our side. He stopped and I thought it was because he knew we were about to cross. But I noticed him slowly backing up and then moving towards us. It was dark and late and that immediately put me on guard. Well, that was an over-reaction on my part, . The guy sticks his head out of his window and yells, "Where did you get the fez???" . Told him we got it at Hot Topic and he just nodded his head and smiled, .
My neice got a lot of good attention and I'm glad. I really wanted her to see how a fandom can make people happy, giddy, and basically nice to each other. Heck, we even had a lively DW discussion with this older lady in the rest room, . She happily saw for herself that it's a common love and respect and you feel happy that there are people who share that passion and devotion.
So anyway, got home at 11pm. Wanted to post right away but had to do chores. This lady I was talking with in the rest room said that there are rumors that the Christmas episode will be a 2-parter. One airing this December and the other one airing in frickin' August!!! I hope that's not true. That's just too LONG! Then again, I thought November 23 was too long and lookee, it was just here, .
I'm glad, by the way, that the 3D was worth it. When we saw Monsters University in 3D, that was really a waste of money. The war in Arcadia alone was worth our DW money, That was amazingly shot.
I was so happy seeing Tennant on the big screen as The Doctor. I've seen him in that vampire movie but to me, David's hotness jumps to infinity when he plays The Doctor, . He and Billie do look older with him and his eye bags and her and her eyebrows. She needs to get her DW arch back. I think her eyebrows now make her look harsh. Oh, her lipstick was distracting too because the bottom part, basically it was past her lipline but I get it, it's part of her look, , Jenna was just soooo pretty, wasn't she? Unfortunately for her, the three zits on I think, the left side of her face can't be hidden in a 3D big screen, .
I am so glad we watched it in the theater because those extras in the beginning were funny. The one with Matt and David plus the Strax one with the popcorn, . I was hoping that after the behind-the-scenes footage(how cool was seeing Matt and David goof off and seeing Billie and David sitting and chatting together? the feels,!), they would show the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot but hey, that's okay. There is a thing called gluttony anyway, .
All in all, it was just a memorable night for my neice and myself. I am also sooo pleased everyone had a blast too!

dear lady wrote:I just got home as well and it was so amazing on the big screen. The 3D was a bit wobbly to me for a bit (I'm not too used to 3D though in general) but the scenes it accentuated were BEAUTIFUL. I saw it when it broadcasted but this was really how it should have been. It was BRILLIANT and I want to see it again rightnow! I'm so sad it went by so fast!

The Time Lord has conquered the box office.
A special nationwide 3D screening of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary TV special “Day of the Doctor” grossed a stunning $4.8 million at the U.S. box office.
What makes this particularly impressive: That’s from one night. The 75-minute “Day of the Doctor” screened in 660 theaters as a one-night-only special event Monday and averaged $7,155 per location, with 320,000 tickets sold. Granted, the tix were $15 a pop, so that certainly helped.
In fact, the BBC’s cult favorite show was the No. 2 movie in America on Monday, behind only The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Its gross is nearly as much as The Wizard of Oz in 3D made during its entire run earlier this year ($5.5 million). And it was more than indie fav Much Ado About Nothing ($4.3 million) or bomb The Fifth Estate ($3.3 million).
And don’t forget: This screening was two days after the episode had already premiered on BBC America, so most fans had already seen it. On limited Saturday screenings, the show racked up $204,000 in the U.S. box office and $2.9 million at the UK box office.
“It’s incredible that Doctor Who has made history once again, setting record numbers across the board on BBC America, in social media, and now in theaters. It’s a testament to the fans and their dedication for Doctor Who,” said Soumya Sriraman, EVP Home Entertainment and Licensing, BBC Worldwide North America.
Doctor Who wasn’t too scruffy in the TV ratings either. A total of 2.4 million viewers watched the special’s first telecast at 2:50 p.m. ET on Saturday, breaking BBC America’s ratings records. That total rose to 3.6 million once including the show’s encore.

You could tell how comfortable they have gotten with each other with how close they're sitting and how touchy-feely they are. Someone make another movie with 2 again PLEASE!!!
