You can manually check in without sound but it doesn't always work. If there is a show for extra points and I'm out I just go to the slickdeals thread and use the audio file they will put up. It doesn't always work but its good.

It starts when you check in and will check you out when the show ends. You don't have to keep the app open.

Manual check it doesn't work for me. But if I'm not near a tv, I'm usually near a computer that has sound. I've used my work computer to check into cnn, cspan, and the Olympics (I just have to find whatever sport is actually airing on a station at that time). I don't continue watching as I can't do that at work, but it earns me points.

I think I'm calling it quits on Viggle once I hit my next 50k (won't be long, I'm at 43k now).

They're changing rules on a weekly basis. First the stopped manual check ins for long shows. Then they dropped support for CSPAN and HLN completely. Now they're taking away the ability to get bonus points by checking into recorded shows.

They aren't taking it away, just making it so you can't get the bonus after 8am the next day.

If you're recording shows there's a good chance you're not going to be watching them before 8am. I just noticed that some of the upcoming featured shows are only giving 50+ points now.

I've always thought they'd rather have people watch a show than to only check in for 10 minutes to get bonus points and do that repeatedly. I've kinda always expected them to eventually only allow you to check in to a bonus show and then not allow you to check into another bonus show until that one has stopped airing or for 30 minutes or an hour or whatever.

Yeah I just got home and checked into featured shows from last night (friday) and got the bonus points.

Wow. Now they're raising the prices on prizes. iTunes $10 card went from 18k to 25k and a $25 Best Buy card went from 50k to 62,500. That probably means the Amazon card will be raised when it gets back in stock. WTF.

I've gotten burned out, because I got tired of having to try 5 or 6 times to check into sporting events, sometimes without any success. That's a recent thing too - it used to recognize sports show clips from the slickdeals post within 1, MAYBE 2 tries.
