When my husband and I were looking for an apartment to live in after we got married we had the hardest time finding a place that would allow our dog, Scooby. He is a mix, we don't know the breeds for sure but he has markings similar to a rottweiler. Even when we found a place that would allow big dogs they would say "no" to our dog. We finally found a place that didn't care what kind of dog we had after calling probably 30 + apartments. Now we are finding out that most homeowners insurance providers have a similar list of "aggressive breed" dogs that are not allowed. We have lived in our new house for over a year now and just received a letter from the insurance company saying that they spotted an "aggressive breed" dog on our property. I am so annoyed. Scooby is 13 years old, he can't do stairs, it takes him forever to stand up.... I know a lot of small dogs that are WAY more likely to bite than he is. I have been told by many people that he is one of the sweetest dogs they have met. Now they want us to sign an agreement that takes away our dog liability insurance. We are trying to find another company but that is becoming a difficult task as well. How can anyone have one of the dogs on this list? So many freaking restrictions. Ugh.
Its not fair.
