Unless I missed it, they also didn't show very much of Becks speeding on his boat in the beginning. Seemed like the BBC broadcast had more of that.

All in all, it was a fine opening ceremony. Wasn't the very best that I've ever seen (it'll be damn near impossible to top Beijing) but was nowhere near the worst. Organizers did a great job.

OMG I LOVE GLOVES SO MUCH

A few thoughts:

- U-S-A! U-S-A! USA!!!!!

- NBC shouldn't have skipped that tribute to the victims of the London terrorist attacks

- Ralph Lauren did a crapass job on the US uniforms. The female uniforms are ugly from the waist down, the beret thing is stupid (and hello, French), and they were made in China. That said, hello Kobe Bryant.

Who knew he'd look so good in that hideous getup?

- Lots of good looking athletes from many different countries this year (because that totally matters /shallow)

- I liked seeing The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as HMTQ

Why was Bob and who ever the other guy was talking over Artic Monkeys? I was totally shocked they didn't talk over Sir Paul, but I guess they knew better than to do that shit.

I love the uniforms and I honestly never saw the big deal about them being made in China, but I do agree with you on one thing. Kobe did look hot. It's all that weight he lost for the Olympics.

I bet a great majority of all of the different country's uniforms were made in China. I bet we're the only country that gave our designer shit for it. Damn, it annoys me how overly-PC this country has gotten in the past 8 or so years.

Overall, I thought it was a very strange opening ceremony - I felt like what I imagine being on acid would be like. But, I did appreciate how quick the parade of nations was.
