Posts: 11560 07/03/2012 3:18 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I just saw the midnight show and I loved it! It met all of my expectations. Andrew Garfield was terrific. I loved the way he portrayed Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Definitely different than Tobey, and it worked. Emma Stone was fabulous as well. I know she's already big but this is just gonna make her even bigger. Overall I thought it was great! A little slow in the beginning, but other than that I loved the style. It had a very comic book feel to it, moreso than the other movies. I never really read the comics very well, so I don't know about that in comparison. The Lizard was a very good villian too. Rhys Ifans was definitely very fun to watch.

Overall not as "epic" no upside down kissing in the rain and the villain wasn't very villainous but I think it was a better movie. It seemed like the Toby version you just couldn't wait for him to put on the mask and swing around, but this one he barely wears his mask (thank you!) and it's more engaging of a plot. Go see it, definitely worth the money.

However, there was NOTHING new about the story and this new film did nothing to advance the storyline of Spiderman or Peter Parker. I was hoping for more, really. It was the same smart aleck Peter Parker who gets bit by the genetically altered spider. Same Uncle Ben Story. Same impetus to become a superhero. A slight change in villain, which was not really all that innovative at all. I don't understand why they needed a new movie so soon from the Tobey Maguire series. Well, I actually do. They needed money and they needed to keep the rights to this franchise. All I want to know is, will they ever make an Avengers movie WITH Spiderman in it?

Posts: 5254 07/08/2012 1:53 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I really liked it. It was kind of slow in the beginning but thought the action towards the end was good. Garfield did a great job as Peter/Spider-Man and thought Emma, Rhys, etc. were all good in their roles. One of my biggest issues with the previous trilogy was that Spider-Man never really wise-cracked when he was fighting but I think they did a great job of capturing the essence of him in this one. It looks like they may go the Green Goblin route with the next one and if the do I hope they do the death of Gwen Stacy storyline. PuraVida- Sony and Marvel/Disney apparently were in talks to put Oscorp in the NY background in The Avengers but they didn't have enough time to insert it in. Maybe they'll try to come up with something to have him cameo in the 2nd movie. Spider-Man was never really a big part of The Avengers so it won't bother me too much if he isn't in it.

Posts: 7735 07/09/2012 4:00 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Finally went to watch the movie, definitely enjoyed it and thought it was wayyyyy better than the Tobey Maguire one!!!!. I am still confused a little as to the way he generated the web in this one. I thought in the old version he generated it based on the fact he had been bitten by a spider. In this one they seemed to show that he artificially made it and it was coming out of his arm band thingies. They also just seemed to ignore that fact the rest of the movie and assumed he could generate enough for him to fly around as much as he wanted. Otherwise it was definitely a cool movie and even better in 3D!!!.

They thought it was too chick-flicky or missed the whole "With great power comes great responsibility" speech.
