I guess that goes for children too, who obviously cannot afford their own healthcare. You act like this thread is saying that everyone deserves to have Ipods or Bentleys or some other material shit. This is about peoples lives, you heartless bitch. This is why people call you an asshole. Because you are. Not because you have a differing (and ignorant) point of view and not because you don't ever know what you're talking about. It's because you're an asshole. If the mods wanna give me a warning for that comment, that's fine and I accept it. It needed to be said.

The saddest part is that she doesn't even realize that she doesn't have to say fuck you or use curse words, the shit she says in these posts is offending enough.Rok reminds me of a video from 2 years ago. It was a healthcare reform protest with teabaggers whining. There was an old man sitting peacefully with a sign, I believe he suffers from Parkinson's and some man walked up to him and started throwing money at him. If you don't remember it, you can read it here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/18/tea-party-protesters-bera_n_504183.html. The man who threw the money, the next day when he realized what a callous, rude and ugly thing he did to that poor man, he was remorseful and sorry. To me, Rok is that man throwing money, but the difference between the two is that the man realized what he did, he was ashamed of his behavior, he apologized, he made donations to a Parkinson's charity because he was so distraught over what he had done, the mob mentality overcame him and it took one or two days when he realized the error of his ways. But Rok doesn't and will never realize what she has said to people on this board over the last, what? 5 years? That's the saddest part of it all. I think what she said to Pop was the number one ugliest things I've ever seen her say to someone.

It's not being a bitch because I don't want to pay for someone else to have health care in addition to paying for my own. I've heard people on the right and the left say entitlements have grown to an unhealthy level. If you want something and can pay for it yourself, you deserve to have it. My parents taught me that when you become an adult, people do not have to give you anything. I'm an adult, I take care of myself. Not deserving of ridicule at all.

She never actually said she did, but I guess her being all "oh say it to my face" means she does think she should have free health care without working? I just don't understand that. I've never met anyone in real life who thinks they should get things for free that other people have to pay for.

Alex the Goob wrote:I'm pretty sure you saying you don't think her fiance deserves health care is worse than saying "fuck you," so that may be what offended her. Just a guess though. BTW I think most people who are unemployed aren't that way because they don't want to work. And I don't think people deserve to die because they're unemployed and/or poor. To me, saying they shouldn't get health care is the same as saying they should die.

It's just annoying that a lot of people here people words in mouth and try and make me look like a bad person. People that need medical care should get it. But Sometimes I wonder if people think about the real world consequence of what's going to happen. It's unfortunate the Medicaid expansion was struck down because I'm sure many states will not expand Medicaid so many people will still be screwed, but instead of just not having health insurance now they will have to pay a penalty tax for something they have no control over. If it didn't cost so much to see a doctor once in awhile, more people could afford to do it, without insurance even. You didn't always have to go to the doctor and pay $300, but because health insurance covers basically all medical care now, there really isn't much incentives to control costs for people that have to do without. And I don't necessarily see costs coming down either because the whole point of making healthy people buy insurance was so they would balance out all the unhealthy people being added. And assuming people would take preventative measures, assuming people can't afford to go to the doctor so they don't take preventative measures, when in most cases, even people with insurance don't see a doctor until there's a significant problem. But no one talks about that. Not here at least.

That's a stupid thing to say, sorry but you know it, and I know it. She never even clarified what she meant...but no, if you don't work at all and refuse to work, I'd rather not personally pay for your needs. If you can't work (because of a disability) and/or trying to find work, that's a different scenario completely. You just stretch my words (like you are doing in this post as well) until it paints a nasty picture of me. I never said I want anyone to die in the streets, and I'm not telling anyone to fuck off because they have health care. Once again, you stretching my words out so it fits the negative picture you want to paint of me isn't my problem. You even admit that it's not me saying it, it's that you take it as offensive. Most everyone in here is happy just because this will piss so many people off. Not many people are discussing the issue. It's all bitching and name calling for you guys. But apparently I am a horrible person for wanting to take care of my own needs as well as the needs of my family. I find that point of view sad. Like I said, it's very easy to point and name call over the internet, but real life is quite different.

Unfortunately for you, your convictions go in the other direction from most people on the board. That said, none of us wants to subsidize people who dont want work. I know damn sure I dont. Currently the government is taking $1200 a month from me in taxes, and Im paying $200 in medical insurance per month. Thats a lot of friggin money. I dont know what kind of insurance you have, but mine only covers at 100% once a year preventative check ups. For my specialists and the diagnostics that I need, Im still stuck with at least 40% of those bills. However, for the people that were like me and who needed care and couldnt pay for it nor could I qualify for coverage,I wouldve appreciated the support and assistance of my government that Ive been paying taxes to since I was 13. We as Americans, as humans, need to do something to bridge that gap! I believe that this piece of legislation does just that. It might be unfair to me now, but it wouldve been useful and appreciated when I needed it. Im not a fan at all of programs that allow people to be lazy and live off of those of us who work or those of us who want to work, but when it comes to medical care, we are all entitled to that in my opinion, even the lazy. For most people, living means dealing with stuff youd rather not. I would rather focus my finances on myself and family too, but If I had your attitude about this in some respects, I could be pissy about having to pay additional property tax for things like school levies. I dont want to pay additional taxes for someone elses kid to go to school when I dont have kids, dont want kids and was private school educated myself. I dont want to help pay for a lot of things that I dont use, nor does my family, but as a member of society, its just how things go. Imagine if we could all just opt out socially and financially the things that dont pertain to us. We would all be royally screwed. From my understanding, we were the only developed country that didnt have a universal health care plan yet we are the least healthy developed country. Something needed to be done- even if people like us carry the load.
