Posts: 36488 06/23/2012 7:47 PM	I know it would be a ton of work and the business aspect scares me, but where I live there aren't any really good bakeries. We don't have that many, a couple, actually just got some doughnuts from the place. But I wish we had more selections. My cousin is a chef/baker, I'd love to start up a little bakery with couple tables with her.

Posts: 36488 06/23/2012 7:57 PM	I'm north of Milwaukee. I actually tried the Milwaukee Cupcake Company. I paid $10 for 4 cupcakes and they were really gross. They were decorated beautifully, but I hated everything. I went to this popular bakery to order my mom's birthday cake. I ordered some cake balls and cookies and it was all greasy and too sweet. I ended up ordered a small cake at the grocery store and baked cupcakes myself. CK, I'm sure it's an insane amount of work.

I want to find a place that makes all the doughnuts I like, but I don't want just doughnuts, I want fresh bagels, muffins, breads, pastries, etc... The place we've gotten stuff from before is a kosher bakery, I haven't been there, just tried the doughnuts that were brought home and they were delicious. It'd be interesting to see what they have because they don't have a website. There is this place that makes the BEST cakes ever (the cakes are so yummy and the whipped frosting with white chocolate shaving over the entire cake is to die for) and it's only 30 minutes away, but the problem is that it isn't a bakery, it's just a cake shop. So you have to put in orders, you can't just walk in to pick up something. :/

Something small, but colorful and quirky, but with really good food, like on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I do know that something like that is a huge undertaking and is huge commitment. Right now, I just dabble in baking. I bake for my mom's co-workers and they love everything I make, so it's fun to have them as guinea pigs.

I don't know how far north of MKE you are, but if you're ever in the area again, you should go to Honey Pie and try their cupcakes. AMAZING.

The cake was dry as hell and the buttercream frosting tasted like a stick of butter. I'm pretty sure mine are a lot better. I would love to start selling them to people for parties and such.

I made some AMAZING sticky buns a few weeks ago. They were the best dessert I've ever made. And I make a to-die-for German Chocolate Cake. I'm a cookie freak, so I'd have to have tons of cookies, so I'm experimenting with that too. So I need more recipes and about a million dollars. I've had a couple cupcakes from MKE Cupcake Company (I live on the east side of MKE) and they were okay I guess...nothing to write home about. I don't know how far north of MKE you are, but if you're ever in the area again, you should go to Honey Pie and try their cupcakes. AMAZING. Oh, really?! I'll have to check it out! It's in Bayview...if you go during a busy time, there can be a wait to eat, but you can just go right in and buy baked goods. So worth the wait!

Posts: 14762 06/24/2012 6:36 PM	Two women just opened up a cupcake shop near me. They make cakes as well and serve fresh ground coffee. Cupcakes are $3 a piece. The red velvet is to die for. They just bake whatever they feel like baking each day flavor wise. No guarantee what will be in the showcase every day. They take special orders otherwise. They're doing well, but yeah....they work ALL THE TIME!
