Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought "clean eating" was simply eating whole, unprocessed foods free from preservatives, pesticides and other chemicals. If that's the case, I'd think that avoiding "sugar-free" things would be best, as they usually add a chemical sweetener to replace sugar. That said, I like the Paleo principle of following the diet 80% of the time to allow for sweet treats and indulgences.

I like to melt a little butter or coconut oil in a pan and add a spoon of brown sugar and/or honey and cinnamon. Then add a sliced over-ripe banana and heat until caramelized. Sometimes I sprinkle chopped nuts on the top.
