The fact that he put his child in a washing machine is ALARMING! I don't think the child should be taken away, but these parents def need to have a visit from Child Svc. Honestly, who knows maybe they've stuck the kid in the refrigerator before, I wouldn't put it past these fools!

By the reaction of both parents, I think they know this was a STUPID act and the father especially won't ever forget. But I don't think they should be tarred and feathered over it for the rest of their lives either by having the child taken away.

Hell, mine starts filling with water once I push in the dial regardless of if the top is open or not. Once they put the money in the machine - it became a real dumb f-ing idea to put a child in it and shut it. WTF did he think would happen?

Someone needs to sit these two idiots down and teach them what is and is not considered a "joke". They are parents now. Kids should not be considered as experiment props. At minimum, Parenting classes for these numb-nuts is essential.

Okay, the parents didn't know the door would lock and the washing machine would start spinning. But the fact that he/they thought putting their toddler in a washing machine and closing the door would be funny is still unaccptable. The child feels scared and trapped. That alone is child abuse even if it didn't turn on. They don't get any credit for not knowing it was going to turn on. There's no telling what kind of psychological problems might result from this experience. Let them keep the child. But they should be investigated by CPS and they deserve whatever ridicule they get. There are a million things you can do with your kid that is cute. Putting them in a washing machine isn't one of them. Dumbasses. Oh-I saw this on Yahoo yesterday and couldn't believe the racist comments either. Stupidity comes in all colors.

Kids are curious and seeing that big hole and mommy throwing stuff in it, could be intriguing to a child. The dad really probably did think he was just doing something fun. At least the entire family was at the landromat together, including the dad which indicates to me that the father was part of the family unit and didn't just knock up some girl and leave her on her own with a toddler.

It doesn't matter if the child begged or threw a temper tantrum parents aren't supposed to put children in a washing machine and close the door. And the father shouldn't get credit for staying with the mother he had a child with. That's ridiculous. Should we also give him a pat on the back for buying his child diapers too? I usually tend to sympathize with people over mistakes, but this is just wrong. It is not okay to joke about putting your child in a washing machine. That's just completely stupid and if the parents thought that was okay, they should be punished. I'm not saying that the kid needs to be taken away for sure, but I hope they are thoroughly investigated because honestly, this is just ridiculous. It's no mistake that the dad picked up his kid, put him in a washer and locked the door. It's a mistake the washer turned on, but it's a damn laundromat. A lot of washers automatically start when the door shuts. And they must've put the coins in before putting the kid in. It's not a "mistake." He knew what he was doing. It's a a stupid decision that had an outcome that he didn't expect.
