‘Pregnancy Begins 2 Weeks Before Conception’ Now The Law In Arizona

In your case your doctor would almost certainly do an ultrasound right away to date the pregnancy. And it would still get two "free" weeks added to it.

That doesn't matter, they aren't making the law to act like doctors, they are working their way up the ladder in taking away our rights. This is one step crossed off on their way to taking complete control away from our (and by our, I mean women) bodies and lives. Every American who preaches about limited government and lack of government in our lives (aka Republicans) better be 100% angry about this and try to get it overturned. Sad thing is that no one will and these people will actually back this. People should be utterly outraged over this. And all I can hope for is that eventually one day, this shit will click in their heads and they will finally realize what horrible things are happening in this country and that they shouldn't be supporting it/them.

And the AMA is not happy about this legislation. It is not as trivial as some of you seem to believe.

Posts: 3502 05/01/2012 10:38 AM	After the pregnancies I'm well aware how doctors time them. The 40 weeks is based on your last period, not on conception. Conception is too hard to calculate. All ultrasounds are based on that, so when your doctor tells you the baby is 13 weeks in ultrasound it was conceived 11 weeks ago. This is true for those with irregular periods too. It's not exact which is the basis of this law, to define. A baby is can survive outside the womb at 21 or 22 weeks. Most countries have that as the cutoff. That's based on normal doctor calculations, not conception. I'm not republican and believe am pro-choice, but this is being over blown. What should be focused on is the bill where doctors can lie to pregnant patients. That does go against our rites.
