People have the right to boycott Maher just like they're doing to Limbaughs advertisers if they want to. If you're so angry about it, then start a boycott of your own. You'll have to boycott HBO though since Maher doesn't have sponsors. Also, Bill Maher didn't call anyone a cunt on national television. He did it during a stand-up act in front of a crowd who knows what he's about and the kind of jokes that he does. May not change your opinion on this, but just wanted to throw out the distinction.

I didn't say I was so angry about it. I just said that they are both just as bad in my opinion. And I'm not going to debate when and where he used the word "cunt," but he's said that and worse right on his show, which the last I checked, is still on television. I dislike both men for different reasons. Maher is a leftist ass who has nothing better to do than put down Sarah Palin all day (who by the way, I don't like at ALL, but still, it gets old), and Limbaugh is a complete embarrassment to the Republican party.

As an avid watcher of his show, I would love for you to tell me what he's said on his show that's worse than calling Sarah Palin a cunt? (which he didn't do on his show, but in a stand-up show like I just said.)

nevaehdreamz-- I think the real issue here with the republicans in reference to Bill Maher is not hypocrisy about the Limbaugh thing. I think the real issue they have is the fact that they can't cause him the same trouble and losses that people have caused Limbaugh and that pisses them off. Limbaugh is on the radio with sponsors, and his boycott has caused his sponsors to pull out, for stations to drop his show and cause him some actual damage this time around. Maher is on HBO which is a pay channel that everyone pretty much knows that you can say and do what you want on there with little consequences. I mean, they show True Blood which has constant nudity, violence and graphic sex scenes. Anyone who has HBO pretty much knows how they roll.

With Maher having this freedom and no sponsors, he's less susceptible to the kind of backlash (and firing) that he faced when he did Politically Incorrect on ABC, and the backlash that Limbaugh is currently facing, which is also part of the reason he went to HBO. All in all, I think the right is just pissed that they can't cause equal damage for what they feel are equal situations. Plus, they fucking hate Bill Maher.

I'd also like for you to point out a time when Bill Maher went on a three day tirade insulting and demeaning a college student 55 times, simply for testifying to a panel about the need for affordable birth control. Rush also didn't just call her a slut. He called her a prostitute and said that in exchange for birth control, they should be required to film themselves having sex and post the videos online for him to watch since he (and men in general) are essentially her "pimp" for providing her with the birth control. (which they don't because none of what he said in regards to who pays for it is factual or true.)

Whether you like it or not, you have to admit that there's a difference between going off on a misogynist rant for 3 straight days about a random woman and making comments about a woman on the national stage who puts herself out there, and also makes incendiary comments about people.
