Posts: 24644 03/05/2012 11:17 PM	I tried a dress from the Black and white store that I thought it was cute. My boyfriend promptly told me to take the dress off because I looked stumpy. He was absolutely right. I thought the dress was cute because it looked cute on a tall model, who could pull that shit off. So in your opinion what clothes are flattering to short women? I wear skinny jeans but even then I'm on the fence about it for the same reason. It makes me look stumpy!

Posts: 21987 03/05/2012 11:24 PM	Proportions and lengths are super important. It is torture searching for a dress or skirt for me because just an inch can make a difference. I also find that wearing some sort of heel helps and being as thin as possible. Sorry, I know that last one makes me sound like an asshole.

Posts: 13393 03/05/2012 11:37 PM Most Intelligent '03	I think you can make anything work as long as it's tailored correctly, so find a good tailor you trust and let them help you get the right fit out of your clothes. I love maxi skirts and dresses even though I'm short, add a pair of wedges or heels and then have the skirts/dresses hemmed to floor length and it's great. Even jeans and dress pants need to be altered to fit better, but those are staple pieces so they are worth the money to make them fit the way you want them too. Like someone else said, proportion is important, so keep that in mind.

I'm 4'11" but still find clothes that I like, it's not always easy, but I just get stuff altered or make my own clothes which is a great alternative if you can sew!

It also depends on your torso length vs your leg length. I am short, but have short legs and a really long torso. Maybe try finding some celebs that are your height/your body type and see what looks good on them.

I'm 4'11 as well, and can never find anything that fits me, in length, and in the waist. I'm just wondering where you find clothes? Because I can't stand shopping for clothes, and shoes also. (I'm a size 4.5 in shoes.)

I think I have a short torso and stumpy legs, but I am not of the Snooki variety.

I'm 5'4" and, although I have to have some things hemmed, I can find plenty of dresses, skirts, pants, etc. I do have longer legs and a shorter torso though. At 5'3" I am a little confused though as to how you can have both a short torso and short legs. Where is the 5'3" of you? Your head or neck?
