Wasn't it published a few months ago and fans were fine with that? wait.. what? so it's going to be twilight themed or is she gonna change the characters? would stephanie like.. flip her shit? this fandom.. i cannot.. Once published, she had to change the names, that's all.

minus the vampires? So what does that mean? The story is about a whiny girl and her overbearing/controlling boyfriend and his outcast foster siblings? I don't get it.

She was very popular in the fanfic community and tried to sell a disc of her stories on eBay without changing any of the names (so potential legal issues with use of the trademark etc), and it went for silly money. Who would pay that much for it when all they had to do was go online and 'Save As' for free I don't know, but the bitch fit was partly because people thought it was a total cheek/exploiting her following and partly she was stupid and didn't change the names. Obviously all fan fic is technically copyright infringement and the silent deal is "okay, so long as you're not making money." Somebody in the *NSYNC camp was told and the whole thing got quietly nipped in the bud as a result, but people were pissed because they could well have got pissed and clamped down on everyone. With this woman - if she's changed the names and the published version isn't infringing then good for her. She's not the first and won't be the last fan fic writer to get published. So wait- does this mean I can write a book about a kid that knows how to do magic, call it ''Larry Potter'' and make millions? You'd have to work very hard to ensure there was little similarity - unless you made it a parody in which case you could knock yourself out but you'd probably be forced to write something along the lines of 'unofficial parody' on the cover or something

PrecursorsIt is not certain when Cervantes began writing Part Two of Don Quixote, but he had probably not gotten much further than Chapter LIX by late July 1614. About September, however, a spurious Part Two, entitled Second Volume of the Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha: by the Licenciado (doctorate) Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda, of Tordesillas, was published in Tarragona by an unidentified Aragonese who was an admirer of Lope de Vega, a rival of Cervantes. The turn of the 20th century saw parodies and revisions of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland by authors including Frances Hodgson Burnett and E. Nesbit. In addition, there were several fan-authored versions of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. In 1945, C. S. Lewis adopted certain elements from J.R.R. Tolkien's then largely unpublished legendarium (mostly Númenor, there spelt Numinor) and incorporated these into the last novel, That Hideous Strength, of his Space Trilogy.
