Or was this trip SOLELY planned for your birthday? Because if it's the latter, that's very odd that they would go without you, seeing as the point of it is to celebrate your birthday. And did I miss why your mother can't pick you up? Or is these some kind of NJ Transit bus/train you can take to get back home? (I know there are bus stops in AC.) Also, why aren't you buying new tires if you have enough money to go away for the weekend?

So obviously don't bring logic into the post please. Just agree that her friends are selfish to appease her or keep your trap shut.

That she did this on the occasion of your birthday weekend, and considering that you had been able to secure a considerable discount for her and the others, also suggests an ungrateful spirit. I wonder if up to this point she had been a quality friend or has she ever displayed any inkling of this type of nature before.

Because I don't see anywhere in this post where you asked the same questions. Or are you just referring to the questions about her mom and the tires?

Not a one of them would question driving me home in this situation-all have gladly done it and I have done similar stuff in return for them. Like, thank GOD I do not have friends like Julia and kitty and geoff where it is somehow selfish or entitled to do small things for your friends and have them done in return as well. I seriously don't think I could even survive if I was surrounded by people with that attitude or if that was the attitude I returned. I guess that is normal though so it makes me cling to the friends I do have even more. Reminds me I should be grateful for them!

You say this about parents, friends, teachers, everything somebody doesn't have a perfect something of. But anyway, my friends would most likely make the drive but eventually you grow up and when someone says "You know, after the long trip I just don't want to make the 30 minute drive (which ends up being an hour)" then I wouldn't freak out and call them a bad friend. Honestly, I probably wouldn't make the hour drive after a trip like that.
