What I mean by this is how many people here have seen The Color Purple, Friday, Roots or Soul Food for example. I know these aren't "Black"
movies, but they have a majority black cast, and I was wondering do you watch movies that focus more on black culture.

I watch any kind of movie if it looks interesting or I've heard word about it. I went to see Hustle & Flow with my aunt and there were two other white
people in the theater. Didn't make a bit of difference to me.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Diary of a Mad Black Woman 2 are two of my favorite movies!
On movie night on day last year, I had picked out Diary of a Mad Black Woman...and I'm white and as Polish as can be. My good friend picked out Friday Night Lights, and she's as black and non-football loving as you can get. She did it for the guys. haha |

I was just wondering. I know JJB isn't representative of the world. I just wanted to know why, in general, movies with a majority black cast rarely ever do
as well as movies with a majority caucasian cast.

I'm not black, but I watch "black" movies, especially the comedies. The last one I saw was that movie with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac but I
don't know if you count it black or not cuz Ashton was in that movie. I've also seen Diary of a MBW. Oh and I looove the Wayan's brothers, although
that one where Marlon plays the little baby was kind of creepy, it was still kinda funny.

Don't know if you consider them "black movies," but I liked Boomerang and Coming to America. I've been wanting to watch Something New but
never have time to watch the whole thing on HBO.

I've seen (and read) The Color Purple. I've seen Roots and Friday (own Friday). I've seen almost everything Spike Lee has directed, those usually
focus on black culture.
I'm interested in a wide variety of movies, regardless the color the writer, director, and cast. |

I'm biracial and I usually don't watch them. Not nec. b/c they're black movies, just b/c for whatever reason they don't appeal to me (esp. a
lot of the comedies--I just don't like that kind of humor). My sister had a conniption b/c I've never seen The Color Purple or Diary of a Mad Black
Woman.
