Last apartment I was in tried to give me an incentive to stay and lowered my rent by $100/month. This place is raising my rent by $150 per month and making me pay for parking (which was free last year) which is another $140 per month. Husband is saying it's because it's now a renter's market since most aren't buying any homes so apartments have the advantage. We were hoping to stay here and continue saving for our house next year, but this would be eating into a huge chunk of our monthly savings. I've been looking at other apartments too and all of them raised their rent as well and most have had complaints about noise (which for me would be a dealbreaker). I don't know where I'm going to end up this summer.
