I also walk a little on the odd side to. I had an injury to my knee playing softball when I was 12 and had to wear a brace on my leg for six weeks. Since then
I walk with my feet out which kind of hurts when I climb up stairs.

A good shoe is one that matches your foot shape (high arches, low arches) and the way you walk (heel-first, toe-first, mid-foot).
A perfect shoe for me won't necessarily be a good shoe for you. You should go to a running store if you have one near you. They'll look at your foot,
watch the way you walk, and pick out a good shoe for you.

The best shoe is the one that fits your foot/gait the best. Here's a place to
start.

In a pinch, you can try hot glueing moleskin in your shoes to prevent blisters. I did that with an old pair of running shoes and it worked very well. It
also ripped off without causing damage to the shoe when it needed replacing. YMMV.

You can find moleskin in the footcare area of any drugstore.
