I've never thought the Gosselin kids were overworked or in any danger. To say that is crazy.

I just think they are being used for monetary gain. It's more of a moral issue than a legal one.

It doesn't matter to me what the total number of dollars are. Child labor laws are there to protect children, even if they work for minumum wage. Child labor laws are in place for all children, no matter what the dollar amount it. I think the child labor people should have had a close eye on the Gosselins, Duggars, etc. from the get-go. Hopefully they have been. I disagree with the way those parents are forcing the kids to be so exposed so often.

I'm quite sure TLC follows ALL of the child labor laws. So this is just another hit in the shit storm that is currently taking over their lives.

These kids are well taken care of no matter what happens with Jon and Kate.

I thought that the Gosselins film way more shows than the Duggars and the Roloffs. The Gosselins film year round, but the others only film here and there.

It was. The land was purchased way before the show was ever shot, as well as most of the materials used for the home. It's not like they suddenly were able to afford to build their dream home with the help of TLC. They had always intended to have the house built, and had the financial means to do way before TLC came around.

I think the problem people have with Jon and Kate's show in particular, and not the other family shows, is the way it's shown, like the format of the show. It also helps that the other families from family shows, seem sane.

With Jon and Kate, it's all about the little kids, what they're doing, what they've discovered, where they're going, what tantrum one of them threw. It's all "oh look what they're doing now!"

My main problem with all of these shows is that the kids have no say in the matter. A three-year-old cannot consent to being filmed x hours per year. If the parents have decided to value money and material items over the possibly negative impact that doing the show is having on their kids, then someone needs to intervene.

I think the money is only one of the issues. The main thing I feel is that kids have no say in having cameras on them all the time. I think in the past this was not an issue, but now reality tv has made it a problem. Before reality tv was mostly adults doing this and deciding to have themselves in front of cameras all the time.

I don't care if "kids have been through worse". I am sure kids go through way worse than many child actors before laws limited their...
