They see it as defending their country.
Correction, what if the USA had gone in and assasinated members of the Mexican government and Mexico retaliated by sending rockets? Would we be justified in starting a war with them?

Hamas started and still is firing missiles at Israeli citizens. Israel is defending themselves as any other nation would.
